Ladies, any experience and tips for new moms going back to consulting? Is it possible to manage working while putting baby in daycare? And of course, is it possible to stay local?

It’s definitely possible! I work in federal...so I’m mostly local (DC). And my team/office is super flexible so I work a lot from home as well. And we’re hiring :)

Doable. I’d say 3 things: 1. Set boundaries and stick to them. But don’t set them until you have the baby and get to a point where you have established a routine. So you’re basing your boundaries in something real vs what you think it should work like. 2. Have a plan but be open to changing it. All kids and parents are different as are their needs. What works for one, doesn’t work for another. And most importantly, needs change and evolve. What my kid needed at 1 vs now is different and my schedule evolved with her needs. 3. Create a support structure at work and home - ask for help, split responsibilities, have backups, don’t do everything yourself. Good luck to you!

I’ve been back at work for about a month (my daughter is 5 months old). I got so worked up about how complicated things would be that I over-planned & over-engineered my return. Things have been much easier, and people have been much more supportive than I planned. I set clear boundaries & have been able to achieve a good balance right now. I know things can change rapidly, but my advice would be to not panic or worry about your return until you’re actually returning. Good luck!

Depends on your firm probably but I’m doing exactly that. My husband also works a pretty demanding job so our kid’s in day care and we hire a couple hours of extra help in the mornings. Some days get a bit hairy but it’s mostly manageable.

Question for immigrating generation parents or people with traditionally conservative mindsets raising daughters in this country. How have you reconciled your traditional mindset and perhaps ideas on conservative dressing, piercings, ink etc with a daughter who is increasingly interested in it and headed into her teens. I do think body positivity is important but I'm also stuck maybe a generation behind where it comes to looking professional. What was your approach? (im the father if it matters)

Anyone tried or have a Tonal? Thoughts? How are the class? Do you feel fitter after using it? How long are workouts? How often are you using it? Is it addictive and fun like peloton? We have a peloton, which we love, but aren't disciplined enough use it consistently. Need to get back into the fitness game now that the pandemic is over. Like the gym / classes, but the time saving aspect of at home workouts is great and better for us right now with baby. Might get this as gift for hubby.

Hi, looking for some thoughts. Our son will be 3 next September 2022 and we are enrolling him in pre-school. There is a half- day option till 12:30 and a full day option till 3pm. Is the 3pm program too long for a 3 year old or is he missing out by not being there for a full day? We also have a nanny for our younger child so don’t necessarily need him to be there all day

I’ve been asked to weigh in on how to improve my firms parental leave policy. It’s currently 8 weeks paid for birth parent with an extra week for each year at the firm (up to 12 weeks total) and 2 weeks paid for non-birth parent. I’m in a major city, firm is a boutique that has been around a very long time. What would you suggest? Any studies or research you’ve seen recently on trends in parental leave policies also helpful. I’d like to have some sort of data to back up what I recommend. TIA!

Do any other firms have a policy that requires you to return to work for a certain period after paid parental leave, and if you choose to leave you are required to pay it back? If so, is there anyone who decided to leave before the end of that period? What happens if you can’t afford to pay it back?

i’m about 7 weeks pregnant . I had gained about 7-8 lbs during covid and started losing of the weight but i’m back to square one despite eating healthy. I also have a belly bump already (second time mom). not sure if it’s just me and I should try harder to lose or let it go until after giving birth.

What’s everyone wearing to the office these days?? Im one of the lucky pwc 100% virtual folks and have a lunch with our group leaders tomorrow in Boston. Im fairly curvy and large booty/boobed. What is appropriate? Last time I dressed for work it was just a top where my shoulders seemed appropriate 😅. Do jeans still work? Omg what about shoes… I wear moccasins everywhere 😱 I’ve also since had another baby and just man, im feeling overwhelmed now. Help! Picture ideas appreciated
