Stop selling when you get to yes.
I often thought there would be pushback when I pitched an idea or negotiated something. Usually I was so prepared I had thought through most of the areas where there would be questions and come up with a solid response should it get raised.
When I would then pitch, I’d lay out my persuasive business case. Most times I got an immediate yes and didn’t need 90% of the prep work I had done.
Take the yes, thank them once, then exit the conversation. Chase it with a quick thank you note outlining what you both agreed to.
Then go celebrate.
