All the time. Even on this app; “he”, “him”, “his” especially in the Partner 1 bowl. It irritates me so much
This is a big issue online in general unfortunately, the default assumption seems to be that everyone is a guy :/
I also can’t get over people calling women “girls”. As in referring to a 36 year old woman as “the girl who gave the presentation”. She’s literally turned 18 twice over; stop referring to her as a girl!!
Was in a presentation where the male presenter used "Gentlemen" and "girls". What was actually on the slide was Men and Women.
I take note of this during interviews . I’ll often have candidate exclusively refer to hypothetical managers & partners as he/him, which I find odd.
For sure. I just call it out really obviously. People usually get quite embarrassed.
I deliberately refer to CEOs and c-suite leaders as women and as “she” or “her” when no other reference is given. The same for doctors and lawyers :)
THIS! I love it!
Yep
Of course, when we look at the percentage of partners who are women, >75% are not. So it’s almost a natural mistake. Doesn’t mean I’m not irritated by the assumption but there is predictive data behind it.
