Have you tried some heated pads they sell at the pharmacy? I haven’t used one in a long time but I think they’re microwavable
Haven't had this issue since BC, but used to take Advil BEFORE the cramps got bad. It's the same way with headaches for me. If I wait for it to get real bad, the pain is bad and I'm quite knocked down for having to deal with the pain.
Yes, this is right. Don't let it get terrible.
I need to try these CuraHeat pads. I’ve just sucked it up as one of many biological crimes against women.
My doctor prescribed me 800 mg pills of ibuprofen bc one time I nearly passed out it was so bad. 800 mg is equivalent of taking 4 Advil as an alternative. It took my pain from a 10 to 3.. after years of suffering she suggested Mirena and it has changed my life. I’m not moody and don’t get excruciating pain anymore. Highly recommend!!
The time I nearly passed out was actually at work and I had to lay under my desk for almost an hour until I could comfortably stand up again. I unfortunately do not have the strength or will to “ride out the pain” but more power to you if you can or can relate.
I’ve personally never had an issue with ibuprofen messing with hormones :)
I second this. The pharmacy sells these stick on heating pads. They do provide relief when needed.
CuraHeat pads ^ also, if it’s extra painful - I take some ibuprofen
I found excedrin really works for cramps (not just headaches)
You can also find instant heat packs and carry them with you for when cramps hit. They are small enough to fit in my work bag and a better alternative to stick ons for me. Also not as noticeable as a hot water bottle
Thank you all! 💛💛💛 I’ll probably go get some heated pads to supplement the painkillers I already take.
oh lawd. speaking of which - today is ma first day - did you jynx me! ;)
1) second the stick on heating pads! I also travel with a mini microwaveable one (I got it from TJMaxx, but I’m sure they’re on Amazon)
2) I have used a prescription strength Naproxen before but it eventually stopped working for me/ started making me nauseous. I got a slow release ibuprofen (12 hrs) and a anti-nausea prescription so I can take it earlier and keep it down. (I sometimes vomit from cramps.)
3) I travel with a TENS unit (got one for ~$25 on Amazon) and if you place the pads in certain places near your pelvic muscles, etc. it helps with cramps. I’ve used mine under clothes at the office and on planes. Bonus, it’s also great for other muscle aches and soreness. :)
4) Foria makes a CBD and cocoa butter (no THC) vaginal suppository. They’re expensive but I have found them to be effective and no issues using them at work with a panty liner.
