Midol
Also, I’ve notice what I eat the preceding few days makes a huge difference. Always try to eat a day or two prior to your period(if you are able to track it). It makes such a huge difference the diet you had prior.
Eat a day or two prior? Aren’t we eating everyday?
A heating pad and giving myself some grace. I slow down as much as possible those days and make up for it later
I take lots of breaks, WFH (if you have the luxury of doing so) and STRETCH because everything hurts.
Hey friend, this doesn’t have to be normal. Periods shouldn’t be debilitating. If this is something worse than what some Midol can take care of, a doctor may be able to help.
I’ve been to the hospital twice for pain thanks to debilitating cramps. When I do cardio (I jog) a few times/week and eat anti-inflammatory foods within 5 days of my period, it is usually miraculously less painful. Also, you won’t find me without a heating pad or a piping cup of coffee resting on my abdomen. I also take evening primrose oil daily. Finally, when I think my period is coming (so right around pms), I will take 1 Aleve/day until it hits, then I adjust as needed. Be careful with NSAIDS, though, since they’re not great for your liver. It’s basically a lifestyle change lol But the benefits have allowed me to function so much better.
It’s debilitating for me the first day (endo and working on it) so I will often tell the people I’m working closest with at the time that I will have delayed responses for the day. A few people I’m closer with at the office know the circumstances (I don’t feel I should have to tell anyone else if I don’t want to).
I have an IUD so I don’t have a period. I have horrendous ovulation pain (probably related to PCOS) and I’m not trying to have kids at the moment. My gyno said there’s no medical reason to have a period if you’re not trying to conceive. Also it’s a myth that you can’t get an IUD if you haven’t had kids, many women without kids get them, myself included. One of the best decisions I’ve made.
