Ladies how do you keep your sex life from not dying when you have a newborn? We had sex maybe twice the entire course of my pregnancy (at the beginning, I bled a little after sex so the doctor asked us to cool ourselves a bit lol) and with our baby here we hardly have the time or mood to do it. We have our baby in our room (and will probably have him until he’s a year old) and I don’t feel like doing it when the baby’s beside us. Looking to hear what you ladies have done to keep it alive!!!

Wait till baby is sleep and then have sex in another room in the house.

My first definitely wasn’t far away when my second was conceived - they are 2 under 2 so she was probably napping or something 😂🙈

It definitely takes some work. Lube is your friend - hormones are crazy during pp and bf and I was never sure what I’d get going on downstairs. Random tips and things to remember.

- your baby can’t see you, they can only see a few feet in front of their face, and even if they could they have no context/don’t care.
- if you’re struggling to get in the mood, read some erotic stories/audio or whatever your “porn” of choice is prior to initiating
- talk to your partner if you haven’t already and be open and honest about what you both need, what’s been going on, and what your expectations are for sex going forward
- schedule it if you have to - it’s easier sometimes to set aside a time “ok, Saturday night is sexy night.” You can then look forward to it, nap, and drop hints throughout the week/day (like a “can’t wait for Saturday night” text)

Sex life changes after kids.

For us, we only have sex when the our kid go to sleepovers, etc. even though our daughter is now 10 and sleeps outside of our room, in her own bedroom. I still think it’s too uncomfortable to do with her across the hall.

Once in awhile we’ll slip up and just go for it, but usually its about twice a month when we have the house to ourselves.

Biggest advice is to communicate openly with your hubby about both of your needs and come up with creative ways together :) personally I don’t feel comfortable with my husband wanking to porn and I don’t like using my vibrator in secret so we came up with creative ways (wanked together, oral instead of penetration) and just continued to make it a priority and an open conversation after the baby was born. Typically while the baby is asleep, we’ll take the monitor and go to another room - any room lol! Our sex life has changed in that it takes a bit more effort now but luckily it doesn’t have to decline! Orgasms for all! 🥳

like

1) schedule it
2) get baby sleeping in crib (even if just for naps or the first portion of the night)

like

Oh also I would go for morning or afternoon. If you wait until bedtime it’s unlikely to happen. Too tired.

like

Thanks ladies!! I think for us it’s also that a newborn can be tiring to take care of and any free time available is spent in lounging or sleeping. This is something we need to work on.

Neither my husband nor I are good with change and when my husband and I went for the ultrasound he nervously asked "she's too sick to eat anything other than her vitamins and water, is it ok for her and the baby to go without?" Our doctor just smiled and replied "don't worry, baby takes" I don't know why but that was so funny to us. It kind of became our mantra as we navigate and move our life around that "baby takes," its made it feel more Us vs Change rather than Me vs Him. Thought I'd share

Well I did a very bad thing... we found out this week my husband’s father has an aggressive terminal cancer. My father in law doesn’t want to tell anyone and I am supposed to not say anything. The only reason I know is because we live with him. When I was speaking to my mom on the phone I burst out crying and had to tell her, and I had another burst out crying event where I told a friend. I told my husband this and he is rightfully furious with me. :( not sure what I can do to make it right...

Is there anyone who’s experienced helping their parents get health insurance? Specifically, they aren’t eligible for Medicare, make too little to qualify for ACA subsidies, and cannot get employer-provided insurance. Only option is to pay standard premiums - and if that ultimately is the case, fine. Not trying to find loopholes, but given their low-income, would be nice to know if there are programs I’m not finding in my rsch.

His mother apparently was very cold/rude to his ex-gf (I found this out bc I asked) and his sister is very cold and has a very judgmental attitude about women that don’t wanna be a wife & have kids (just like her.) The issues with the kid are being handled appropriately - this is more about how to overcome perception at work
