I had a career coach guide me on how to “brand” myself on LinkedIn. And they phrased it like this:

Think about yourself like a company. What is your mission statement? What are your values? And what makes you better than competitors that provide the same services you offer?

Just start brainstorming and writing these things down. Eventually you’ll get to a point where you know exactly how you want to market yourself and it helps streamline the message you want to put out there.

What do you like best about yourself? What do you do better than anyone else around you? Lead with that

1. Optics and professional perception need to align with your career goals. This can be as small as the profile photo you use on LinkedIn or bigger things like your resume! Best way to see where you are at is to do some research. Google yourself. If you come up in search, is that link going to help or hurt your professional image? If it helps, leave it. If it hurts, get it removed by contacting the publisher or removing it yourself. If you don’t come up at all, start publishing on platforms where you have control and use hash tags and meta tags! Try platforms like fishbowl, medium, and LinkedIn to start! This will boost SEO and help establish a footprint that can help recruiters find you! You can simply share articles or videos that align with your values and experiences in a role. Doing this once a week will greatly increase engagement and leads for work!

2. Consistency of tone and clarity when communicating is huge. For frequently asked questions, develop answers that are warm, competent, and set expectations. You can customize slightly depending on who you are addressing but this practice will boost efficiency in response time while establishing your own “brand” voice.

3. I really love the book “the brand you 50” by Tom Peters.

Leaders can be real life superheroes, especially female leaders. What is your superpower? What are you exceptionally great at? That’s your brand.

How do you promote it to others so that others can develop it or use it? How do you market your superpower so that you can monetize it? We don’t have to give it away for free.

I am in desperate need of a coach/mentor outside of my organization. I report directly to the VP of HR and find myself in a tough situation. My team also reports to her and while I have her favor she clearly dislikes some on my team. I recently had two direct reports break down in our 1:1s because of her. Since she is the VP and I report to her I do not know how to navigate this situation. Is there anyone interested in providing some coaching on this?

Just in case you're wondering if racism still exists in advertising, I'm reading a thread in the main feed where a presumably White man is legitimately asking if it's "good for the industry" that HR's "first word is diversity instead of talent." Oh, to have the audacity and confidence of a White man!!

Hey ppl! I would love some advice re: my situation. I was in a bootcamp sponsored by my employer; afterwards I was assigned to an agile team. However, for about a year now, I've had to join a 2nd bootcamp, purchase courses on Udemy just to get better at coding. I've gotten 100% better, but I don't have much to show for it professionally because I've been pigeon-holed. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to stand out to other employers so I can get a better job - where I'm included?

I work in IT/Events, am the only female in my office, and the only member of staff who was not furloughed. I am bored of reminding my other colleagues and it's now becoming embarrassing how much I complain about being 'forgotten' about - I'm happy to say when I've been overlooked. but what else?

B2B SAAS sales low base + high bonus
Benefit slightly better and bigger company
But what they sell is not what I am passionate about
Feel like I might have better job options if I stick to B2B sales side with other companies

Digital marketing agency acct coordinator about 10k more for base + low bonus
Smaller but benefit is almost good as first one
Seems like fun environment and love what they do but not sure about agency life

I was approached by Amazon out of the blue for a visual designer interview. I’m pretty nervous, I’ve never interviewed with a FAANG.

Anyone have advice, particularly on the question about a mistake, risk, or failure I’ve made in the past and how I’ve learned from it. I hate that kind of question.

I plan on focusing on the leadership principles and have a STAR example for each and I know they love data.
