I lived there right out of college for about 4 years (both NOVA and DC proper) and loved it. Great transportation, lots to do, and lots of people to meet! I will say that dating could be challenging since it felt like a lot of guys wanted to talk politics and I’m just not really like that, but other than that, it was great!
I lived there right after college too and despised it. I lasted two years.
Was very cliquey, people were out for themselves/climbing political ladders, lots of transplants who were only staying for a couple of years. And like EY1 said, topic of conversation always ultimately ended up talking politics. I was always exhausted mentally.
It’s a clean city though and pretty! Lots of transportation. But very expensive.
I went to college in DC and the way I would describe it is oppressively normal. Friends have called it ordinary. The DC culture is very homogenous. It is clean and safe, but not at all interesting to me.
