Women In Consulting

Ladies! What kind of gift would you appreciate? My old boss wrote me a recommendation for business school, so I’d like to send her something in the $50-$100 range as a thank you.

Get her a massage at a nice day spa near the office or her house. Everyone needs / wants a good massage every so often to release the stress!

I have written quite a few b school recommendations now and honestly don’t expect anything, it’s really an honor to be asked and the people I recommend are really lovely and thankful. However any of those knackshop gifts look amazing! Really thoughtful

Totally agree! I once received flowers mailed to my home and loved it.

I got my former male boss a $100 TUMI gift card. I noticed he had a TUMI backpack.

How about some nice products from Sabon like nice scrub, body milk...

What a thoughtful idea. Certainly a sincere thanks is enough and a gift is above and beyond. I echo a spa gift certificate if she enjoys massages; an orchid is always a nice, lasting gift also.

Looking at these but open to additional ideas: https://knackshops.com/collections/bestsellers-50-100 Can’t do anything with sugar unfortunately. She went above and beyond so I’d love to get her something thoughtful beyond just a card.

Those in your 50s, at what age did you reach your peak earning potential? I wonder if age discrimination plays a large role in salary. I know partners make millions, but probably not the norm.

I am trying to decide if I want to rent out my home, covering all but $100 of my monthly housing expense (couldn’t get the $100 more in my market). I would rent an apt for myself for significantly cheaper with a monthly savings of ~$600. Has anyone done this? Pros/cons? Seems too easy..
