I would recommend visiting a reproductive endocrinologist or a gynecologist - they will run a bunch of tests and do an ultrasound to examine your ovaries to confirm.
This! I wasn’t diagnosed until I went to a reproductive endocrinologist. She was a god send
Yes, please go to an RE. You may need to first go to an OB/GYN who will then refer you to an RE. Also some REs don’t take you in unless you’re actively trying to get pregnant. So if you’re not, shop around and find an RE who is understanding of your situation.
Insulin resistance and high androgen levels
You need an endocrinologist. Tell them your symptoms. You may or may not actually have it. I get mixed reviews depending on which docs I’m at
Since it’s a syndrome, they diagnose based on you meeting some of the symptom criteria rather than a simple black and white test.
For me, the biggest indicator initially was irregular periods and excessive hair (which I just thought was because I was middle eastern lol). They claimed I was insulin resistant (which I encourage getting multiple opinions on because they just say this when you’re insulin is high which can be perfectly normal - hence why I am not overweight but the metformin they gave RUINED me in the past -triggered my long battle with hyperhydrosis etc). I also had higher testosterone lvls. Then when I did the ultrasound they saw little follicles and “officially” confirmed PCOS.
Ultrasound of ovaries. But I had all the symptoms: hirsutism, lack of periods, family history of diabetes, blood tests didn’t really show anything though
