It really depends... are you the only income at home? How old are your kids? What does your significant other think? How often will you be able to cone home, can your family visit, how will your company recognize your effort, etc etc- often times you can negotiate something out that can work for everyone...
Based on the ages, looks like they could manage... if you can negotiate a bit it may end up being a fun experience- maybe gurls can visit- you can take sone vacation days in between - stay at a nice hotel - build some memories . International travel tends to be nicer and more fun than within the US - better hotels, food etc. Also clients to appreciate more - i would not write this off so quickly...
In my experience, leadership is usually quite flexible if you ask for certain things. Some people prefer to fly back every week or every two weeks for a weekend. Others do two weeks there, one week back home etc. Don’t hesitate to figure out what it would take to make it work for you.
Definitely try to get more detail, but if the project happens to be over the summer/wouldn’t interfere with school, perhaps your family could stay in Europe with you? Could be an awesome experience for everyone!!
Just say no. That is crazy to ask and expect people to move to another country for that long.
