I was just teasing 😊 I'm not a fan of the chanel style in general, definitely not the square bags with the waffle stitching, long gold chain 'strap' and the two gold Cs, but super cute to hear the story. Now that I know it's about an evening dinner I def still think you're totally fine. It's not like you'll be plastering it on the marble table in the conference room for an all day workshop.
From a purely sociological study, I find this thread fascinating. I have never been someone who felt rich enough for fancy handbags and now that I suppose I am, it's not what I want to spend money on. It never occurred to me that if you are someone who owns nice things that you worry about putting people off. That is strange to me. You be you. Agency people are supposed to be stylish and savvy and successful. What does your handbag have to do with competence?
Who the fuck cares about the brand of bag you're carrying? Or to that point, anything that you carry or wear which is a recognizable brand name? Quality of work over that BS any day.
^ I'm not white, you racist jackass.
Depends on the client. To some, it says "I appreciate quality". To others it screams "I'm overpaid". Judgement call.
If you think they will notice that more than you/your work, I'd carry a different bag.
Sounds like wonderful problem to have
@Wunderman *awkwardly tucks that EXACT purse behind self and backs away from thread slowly* ☹️ haha personally I love those
I want to earn enough to have the problems that you have
How "in your face" of a bag is it? If it's a small/medium purse that will sit on the floor by your chair, nobody cares. And nobody should care, regardless. Do what you want. My friend has a Gucci bag from her husband as a.bday gift. So many female clients with brand name purses and computer bags and coats!!
Agreed in principle, account sup, but not in reality (unfortunately). People notice and care, like it or not, so best to at least have awareness of the impression you're making.
Me too, me too. To answer your question, imo work place is not where you show off your expensive possessions for a multitude of reasons. I understand you have them and you want to use them and have no judgement whatsoever, but you can still wear expensive stuff that doesn't have labels on it - could help appear more humble while you know how $$$ that actually costs. Does this make sense?
I would stare at it longingly and completely tune out the meeting.
yeah in theory it shouldn't matter but unfortunately it does. it's the same thing with wearing huge engagement rings. it's not right but it's a reality. @wunderman it's a vintage black flap bag so the gold c's are a bit bigger. but it's not gigantic or anything.
I get it, bur still gonna take a hard pass.. I have a lot of really nice designer bags on that level and yet I end up using the ones that are more useful and cheap every single time. Not that quality leather is cheap but brand logos in your face seem more obnoxious to me than anything else. Buy real leather that holds your laptop in a solid, dark color.
I don't think it will reflect at all poorly on you- one of two things is likely to happen: 1) they don't notice and your meeting goes as planned, 2) they notice and if they recognize it's designer they'll compliment you on it. If #2, they have great taste :)

^^❤️❤️😂 thank you for appreciating my slightly shallow obsession
A wearable work of art is shallow? Nope!
I would rock it - depending on where you are going they may not know the cost of a Chanel in comparison to the other mass luxury brands - or they may think it's a knock off.
If it matches your day to day, why not? If it's just because you want to flex, don't.
72, that was so cute 😊 Wish I could take a pic of mine, as you might be cringing at it. It's all snake skin pattern with rose gold metal accents. I honestly don't know wtf I was thinking but I was in an "outrageous/flashy" style mood. Now can't go anywhere with that thing though thankfully in NYC nobody cares, lol
