Hey everyone, I was recently laid off.. on November 3 actually. It’s a “temporary layoff” and I’m one of the 4 who got laid off. My return date is February 1st. Would you wait, and collect employment insurance (Canada) or start looking for a new job??

PPEDs: Just found out that a Partner, who was promoted in 2017, was fired. IDK the circumstances. What can they expect to walk away with besides 401k & normal pension plan?

So apparently EY believes that moving to unlimited PTO will provide a first mover/differentiator advantage amongst the big 4.. I’d advise Deloitte, PWC, and KPMG folks to let EY stand alone on this one! None of us asked for this and they are doing it primarily to reduce PTO accrual liability for layoffs/in states where employers are limited in taking away earned PTO

Am I the only person who has been super disgusted to Fishbowl’s response to the Meta layoffs? I’ve been laid off twice in my career but I’m not mad at 11000 people who no longer have jobs just cause they got decent severance while I got a week on my way out. Job hunting is just…exhausting and discouraging. And every time I log onto LinkedIn and see some other company has done layoffs I’m even further discouraged knowing I’m up against these folks now, too. I took a few months off after my daughter was born and it feels like now is the worst time to be back on the job hunt. Out of the few hundred job applications I've sent out over the past few years I've only had 2 callbacks and I know I'm qualified because I constantly have to send clients to other ppl as I'm over booked.
