Folks on H-1B: Does the 60 day grace period start from the employment end date, or from the date the last severance payment is made?

I know that many look to exit into Product Management, but I have never seen so many Project Management roles open. When I first got my PMP, it was difficult to find roles unless very senior. What’s going on the Project Management world now that there are so many openings with layoffs and (possibly) an impending recession?

Laid off in May and now applying for a new full time role w previous employer. I’ve also been approached by someone in a related team at same company for a contract role through at least next May. The hitch is I’m 4 mo pregnant, due in late Feb. I feel like I’ll need to disclose this for the contract role but I don’t want to potentially jeopardize the FT opportunity. What would you do? So far I’ve just said I’d be interested in considering the contract if the FT position doesn’t work out.

How have other people dealt with being the only woman on their team? I’m currently the only female on a team of 18 engineers. I’m treated as an equal and I love my team. It’s literally just that I’m the only woman and I find it kind of hard to relate to some of my coworkers. I’ve already talked to my manager about hiring more women (discussed this when the only other woman left the team for a team that was more balanced) but we can’t just put out an ad saying “women please apply”, y’know?
