Last minute change of plans - now heading to DTW for the week... what the heck to do in the evenings in motor city?

We flew back from Ireland today on Delta. Our connecting flight from JFK at 6:10 was cancelled while we were flying over the Atlantic Ocean, and we were rebooked on a 3:40 instead (2.5 hours earlier) but not notified. I received no email, text or app notification of the flight cancellation or the new flight we were placed on, so we missed it. They now cannot get us home tonight and won’t even guarantee they can get us home tomorrow, impacting my work, (cont)…

A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.
