I’ve been looking for a couple of years in NYC but haven’t found someone that I can be with long term...Feels like guys who are interested in me are not people that I am either attracted or compatible with in terms of our interests/ lifestyle. Sigh feeling a little hopeless sometimes, and COVID doesn’t help
Staff has been back in the office full time since Nov. 7th - Document Services has been riddled with colds, Covid scares and commuting fears. Management says attorneys need document services in office 24/7. Do you think there is a real Firm Need for on-site document services? Note - PA/Secretary is separate from Document Services. Not printing, not mailroom, just technical doc work. Also, NY Doc Svcs Night Shift is worried about muggings when commuting, Chicago highway shootings.

Has anyone gone moved to from finance to tech and enjoyed/regretted it? Lost my job to covid and my options right now are between a vba developer for a large asset management firm (creating dashboards) and a QA engineer for a start up (I can code quite well). Is this goodbye to Finace if I take up the latter?
Reminds me of my train ride commute before Covid.
Have any of you taken FMLA leave due to a positive COVID case for a member of your household? My husband just tested positive for COVID and I am not sure yet if my 2 toddlers have it. In any event, even if they are healthy, they can’t go back to daycare for awhile so childcare is all on me. I’m wondering if I should apply for FMLA leave so I don’t completely crash my hours, but I am also not sure whether this situation qualifies for FMLA.
How many woman are still regularly wearing heels in the office? I’ve found that my office is much more casual than is was pre-covid but still need to look presentable. I am tall and in returning to my pre covid work wardrobe I’m realizing how much of my clothing I need to wear heels with - either because pants are too long or it just looks odd with flats. I feel weird walking around in heels when the other women are more casual. Should I stay in line with what others are wearing or are heels ok?
What type of self help strategies do individuals actually find helpful when you feel burn out or stuck in a rut? Any books, apps, meditation, podcasts, etc, others find helpful? I've done therapy and it has definitely helped this past year with covid and a marriage separation, starting to feel like I'm making progress and want to keep up the momentum. Looking to see what type of self help others find actually beneficial and would love to use that to help others stuck in burn out too
Are folks facing rental rate increases in COVID? My apartment folks sent me a rate increase of 1% in Atlanta. With no increases in salary, I think I should negotiate. Thoughts?
Watching the Boris Johnson covid update and all I can think about is how unfair it is that men can be extremely unattractive and still be leaders while women are expected to be beautiful in addition to effective 😪
Has anyone had to renew their passports recently? I did expedited a few weeks ago but still waiting and I know there's a backlog from covid etc. Let me know if you have any recent experiences. Thanks!
I was curious on the types of travel policies companies are rolling out. For example, let's say you have to travel across the country or internationally for business, you get covid while traveling and can't fly home until you are well and test negative? Does your company purchase travel and and additional medical insurance policies to cover this for their employees, do they expect you to cover it, do they cover it, etc.?
Has anyone used the at home video proctored eMed covid tests for international travel to the U.S? Will be flying back in a few weeks and looks like this is one of the few approved ones that will meet our new 24 hour testing requirements.
Does anybody here feels that this never ending calls and over zealous over productive folks are a byproduct of COVID. I mean I feel like I am working more because of WFH
A sleepy summer Sunday watching the end of a great test cricket match, grabbing a beer with friends and glorious weather. Honestly it is the first day since covid that life feels normal for me

Is it a bad idea to take a two-week vacation 6 months into a new big law job? I’m a mid level associate, and my firm has unlimited vacation. I am on track to hit my hours expectation.
About to begin the interview process for a dream job. My boyfriend of 5 years (and roommate) also works there, but on a significantly different team. At what point in the interview process do I share that my boyfriend works at the company? My BF thinks at the point of a job offer. I almost think that’s withholding information and I should share during round 1.
Anyone who boomeranged back into consulting willing to share what drove your decision? I exited to industry a few months back, and I absolutely can't fathom ever wanting to go back into consulting.
I need a side job that I can work evenings and/or weekends that can generate at least $1000 extra dollars a month. I was thinking real estate but I know nothing about it… then I thought bartending but again, I know nothing about it… I don’t want to spend more than 20 hours per week working this side job and if it is remote AND contract, that would be great. Any advice?
Can any BOs share good websites or references to get started on things one would need helo with starting businesses, like entity filing, accounting, bookkeeping, invoice, payroll, and other services?

I see a lot of Big 4 consultants romanticize strategy work on this forum, but are there any other MBB consultants that don't like strategy? Personally haven't enjoyed the strategy work I've done
Considering moving to South Florida and wanted input on areas to look at that are a little more low key than Brickell, Wynwood & South Beach. Looking for: * Modern apartments/amenities at a relative affordable price point (~$2.5k for spacious 1 bed) * Solid dating pool (professionals) and nice bars/restaurants * Safe and centrally located (beach, MIA, shopping) Any suggestions come to mind with the above priorities?
First time in a really long time that there's no line for TSA PreCheck. Guess the other road warriors are on vacation.
