We pay for everything on credit cards, several thousands of $, and pay them off 100% each month, but that input isnât going to get you anywhere.
You need to look at budgeting where you are spending your money if you want to make meaningful change to build up savings. Grouping all your expenditures (entertainment, dining, shopping, hobbies, travel, etc) all under one lump abstraction of âcredit cardsâ makes it too hard to change spending habits. Review your budgets and see where you can start cutting back. Itâs a lot easier to take a focused approach like âwe shouldnât get takeout so muchâ. If you need a budgeting tool, look at Mint which will download and categorize your credit card transactions alongside your other accounts.
Separate suggestion - set up automatic weekly transfers of smallish amounts from checking to savings. Makes it a lot easier to not spend money when it isnât in your checking in the first place, and small regular transfers removes the emotional pain since you wonât even notice them after the first week or two. My spouse and I have multiple savings accounts for different goals, and have automatic transfers setup for all of them to build them up.
Around 3500. Engaged. HHI base around 270K. 210K from me, 70 from her (medical residency)

I like that you felt the need to explain why you were engaged to such a pauper. So we all know she'll make money soon.
26 here! Around $1000-$1300 combined w my husband. Around $400 for groceries, and the rest for misc bills like car payments, insurance, other bills, going out to eat. If we plan a trip or something thatâll spike it too but thatâs every 4-6 months or so. And then we pay $1000 in rent for right now.
FYI itâs around 2500 when you include rent and all that - but user specifically asked for credit card
Our budget is $5000 a month plus $750 for travel. We spend an average of $4000 a month in credit card on all our cards. We charge pretty much everything on the card.
To save for a down payment, you have to prioritize income and reduce expenses to have room for saving. Currently saving $5k a month for future DP.

I'm saving 50% of net (~4k) on $155K base. $2K towards down payment savings, $2K in stocks.
Not sure why credit card spend matters but the $4K spent is $2K check (rent/car), $2K CC spend.
SO saves about $200/mo for down payment on $50K base.
