Any job that is causing you mental harm is a job that you should step away from, either for a while or permanently. I took a sabbatical a couple years ago and it was wonderful. If you have this option, I'd say take it.
It's tough. Everyone wants us to work, work, work. No time for us to take a break for our mental and physical well-being anymore. Our places of employment need to do more for our wellness. More education on health, nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, more breaks, and more rewards. Good luck and take it easy.
Agreed,I am all about sabbaticals and breaks.
I’m prior military so I’m adaptive to stressing over my work, I just want to be compensated for it. If someone else pays more, go for it.
Anything insurance, the work will always be there. Personally I’d say if you’re able to do good efficient work from 8-5, you have to force yourself to mentally cut off at 5. It will be here tomorrow. PTO is always available and highly recommended to take whenever you need to realistically.
Don't feel any pressure to stay in an environment that no longer works for you. Put yourself first and everything else will follow. Good luck on your new journey.
Agreed, this part of the year is the toughest I find, it's not pleasant at all to deal with
Work there for a little bit. Id say wait it out for at least 3- 6 months while you look for another job. I would say you can't quit on day 2 into the job. You never know you may end up liking it.
Tough time of year to be an underwriter. I’ve found that planning a vacation or something to look forward to in December/January coming out of busy season makes it a lot easier to push through.
I feel the same though, a lot of anxiety, stress and lost sleep over work.
I feel you! It's definitely tough when a job is draining and causes a lot of anxiety. I would recommend exploring other options and seeing if there is something else out there that would be a better fit.
I feel you. Have you taken a break from it? Taking a break helped me clear my mind and reset. But if you're really decided on leaving, I support you for prioritizing you overall health.
Stop forcing yourself to stay in an environment that is putting your nental health at risk. It's not gonna be worth it. Pack up your things and find a new job. I wish you the best of luck!
We fill the same way in Total Loss. New leadership is denied staffing while added more to our plates. They should staff us for a normal week.
