Lateraled in spring (to a much bigger/more global firm) and have been extremely slow, esp lately. Constantly staffed on multiple deals that die, so staffing person isn’t giving me more work since others are also slow (I’m not alone at least). Especially worried about the lost development as a jr/mid and possible layoffs. Partners are hopeful it will pick up soon, but I’ve considered calling my old firm to see if they’re still busy lol didn’t leave badly and they’re more leanly staffed. Thoughts?

I think you should trust your feelings and intuition. Just be careful about setting things in motion and needing to drop them later on.

I would treasure this time and rake in the paycheck while it lasts. I’m an M&A specialist who hit my hours (2k anticipated for the year), but many of my general M&A/PE/Cap Markets associates are far below billables this year so you’re not alone. Last year was so brutal, I’m happy to have any free time.

(Also M&A) I was at like 2400 last year so definitely appreciate the respite! But worried that respite is going on too long…

What is a good interview answer for leaving a job after a few months when the real reason is that you’re sleeping with one eye open in hopes of not being on the chopping block after two rounds of massive layoffs? Company culture is at an all-time low, and it will only go down from here from what I’ve seen in the short months I’ve been there.

Hi All,

I am a BPO professional working as a mid level supervisor in a domestic business. I have recently being laid off as the project we worked for moved away. Currently I am searching a lateral position but unable to find one in spite of several interview attempts.
I would really appreciate if you all share some advise if I should start over as a entry level or wait indefinitely for further opportunities. I am only income generator of the family and cant afford staying jobless for months

Should I accept this offer? Series B start-up: $170k base + 20% bonus + 30k equity.
Current TC (Fortune 100): $140k + 20% bonus + 7k equity. Bonus at current is more guaranteed than the offer, where they said they haven’t been able to give our bonuses every year. Also apprehensive to join a start-up right now given the macro-economic environment. But then again, big companies are making layoffs too…

Anyone ever think about starting a youtube channel? Can you get fired if it's a channel that has nothing to do with financial services (no conflict of interest as I'm not representing the firm's opinion)? Honestly ok with losing my job at this point, but wouldn't want a youtube channel showing up on a background check as I apply for other roles. Thoughts?

How long can you sit on the bench before getting laid off?

Deloitte audit is done with layoffs and rising A2s will be getting raises to make more than incoming new hires as opposed to adjusting offers down.

Things to be aware of when traveling to Peru?

I graduated with my MBA in finance in 2020 and began working at a bank as a Management Trainee. 2 years later, I am an assistant to a financial advisor studying to become a financial advisor. However, I have to do this on MY time and not the bank's.
I am not in a Management position, I make as much as a teacher in a good district and I just don't feel my overall self worth at this job. Does anyone have any advice that can help this situation?

Does consulting have real value as a job? Joined post-undergrad (one year in now) because I didn’t know what career to pursue long-term, liked the idea of exploring different industries, and thought I could learn skills for future jobs. But many posts on FB seem to paint a negative picture of consulting (due to lack of hard skills/expertise/etc) - would be great to hear from more experienced 🐠 if consulting was useful in terms of your future career/learning.
