I had to eat a lot of class years when joining big law. I didn’t go T14, didn’t get a summer job in big law, had to work my way up and finally got here. I’m at a great firm doing the exact work I like doing. Now, all around me, colleagues who graduated with me or after me are getting promoted and I’m still a long ways away. They all deserve it. But I can’t help but feel jealous and angry about the uncertainty ahead of whether I’ll make it there and how long it will take. Can anyone relate?

What’s the point. Boomer partners had it so easy 25 years ago. They have no ideas of the stresses placed on those beneath them due to technology and exacerbated by the pandemic. Plugged into work 90% of the time. The Work product of a junior now is probably 3-4x that of a current partner as a junior back in the day. Just a rant from a place of despair about my future.
