I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Is now a good time to start at Deloitte? Or are more layoffs expected in the near future? Have an offer for human capital comm. for consultant level and recruiter is recommending starting on Sept 1
Anyone else have a lingering fear that they could be fired at any moment? I’ve received great performance reviews and my partner says I’m doing very well, but I don’t vibe with my colleagues as well as it seems others do.
If I didn’t get a return offer from a summer internship, does that make me ineligible for rehire on a background check for a full time job? For context, I didn’t get fired or do anything illegal or rude. I showed up and tried every day. I just wasn’t as good with the soft skills and coding, and even then, I didn’t get anything lower than a 3/5 in my reviews. 3 was met expectations and I think that’s average. I also got some 4’s if that helps.
So now that Trump has been fired. Are we ready to talk about splitting the Union? Think about it. 70M americans want a fascist dictatorship, and think wanting to give people equal rights is socialism Lets go for an amicable divorce. Let them keep their Fascism and we will keep our "Socialism"
Do you ever wish you get fired?
4 years at Accenture were stressful, left to go to Deloitte for $22k salary bump and hope for better culture, then COVID layoff happened. If I try returning to Accenture, which is the best division to try returning to (with generic consulting skills) and why? Not looking for "division spirit/pride," looking for insight into which divisions have better pay/culture/WLB/etc. (constructive replies only please, I realize I sound like a 🤡)
Reflecting on a previous experience I had in consulting. How typical is it to just get straight up fired after you roll off a client project?
My mom just got laid off today...just got promoted on Friday too...why does this happen😣 all I want to do is fly home and hug my mom
Folks who've been laid off before: how do you keep the anxiety from creeping in anytime you make even a small mistake at the new job? 🙁
Got laid off in April making 73k, found a new job in May making 90k then just hopped again for 115k. Despite this year being a dumpster fire in every other avenue, I’m so proud of myself for finally feeling like I’m getting paid what I’m worth.
Is it common practice in Singapore for firms to have a probation period for new joiners (duration at their discretion), during which new joiners can be fired at a week’s notice period?
PwC 🐠 - I’m looking to move back to US firm (NYC). SA level. What are my odds for getting a L-1 visa? and how is the current climate at PwC US (eg layoffs, downturn, etc)? I used to be in FS.
Somewhat of a recent hire - how hard is it to transfer into a different practice in consulting? Will I get fired for asking?
Has anyone come back from being put on a PiP? My colleague just got one and is freaking out - her manager is overallocated like crazy, the other two media planners were laid off, and she’s the only one left standing. Her boss says she’s making too many mistakes - but they’re so short staffed. Any hope, or should she start looking now?
Hey guys I also got laid off at D. 1 year experience as a BTA>S&A>CCG. Would anybody mind helping a mate out with any referrals? Would love to discuss over DM. Appreciate your help, thank you so much!
Claim unemployment or try to find your hardest to find a job in the next month and omit the layoff? I want to rush but not settle. Definitely don't want to go back into consulting.
It's kinda bullshit that a lot of us worked hard to get into consulting and now have to deal with layoffs. While others are enjoying safe decent paying jobs even though they slack off.
Why does PwC need layoffs again if the business is doing well? Also, curious to know what are the other “business reasons” when your util and snapshots are great?
Does anyone know the starting salary for Jackson Lewis in the firm's Connecticut office, as well as the billable hours requirement?
Curious to get thoughts of seasoned travellers. My 6.15pm direct JFK-SFO flight is delayed until 1am due to weather complications. Option to take a 12.10am to Seattle then 7am to SFO (arriving 10am).
I had the worse interview experience with PwC. The recruiter is totally unprofessional. Forgot the scheduled interview time twice. Finally, called me and the interview went well. I was told that someone from the practice will contact me for the next round of interviews in one or two days. If everything goes well, I should have an offer in hand by Friday ( that was Monday) because they try to move fast nowadays. Now, three weeks passed, never heard anything from anyone... been totally ghosted...
Should I get an mba if I have a Maac already?
Does anyone know all in comp range for Associate Strategy and Ops roles at Google? Glassdoor is saying max of 140K, which sounds very low for the quals being requested (MBA, 5yrs of experience)
Which option would you choose: Option 1: Look for new job, negotiate 30k bonus as sign on. Option 2: Stay 6 months for 30k, then try to get another 30k as sign-on.
Lol, Indian Matchmaking on Netflix shows us how cringe some dates go 😬 now we know why some people stay single
Tfw it's 6:30am & you're at the client to catch up after being out with strep, and you promptly spill your entire breakfast smoothie all over your already shitty laptop. #MyLifeIsAJoke 😑🔫😂
Can a job pay you less? I signed my contract showing 175k but found out the role is budgeted for 135k. Worried that they might adjust it, am I just crazy thinking this?
Looking for insights (base/bonus/stocks) on Salesforce Director level position for Success Architect in Customer Success Group
Can anyone recommend a really good divorce attorney in NYC. There may be some immigration issues as well. Long story short, woman is from Canada. Been married 4 years. Moved to ny to be closer to husbands family. Found out husband is cheating. Can be separate divorce and immigration attorney.

A friend and her SO are visiting my SO & me for 10 days cz they wanted to tour my city. All 4 of us are WFH. friend’s SO takes all his calls on speaker?! They are super loud which embarrassed us at a wine bar we frequent. I literally had to call out saying ppl are throwing us looks cz we are loud. I’m a manager and have video calls all day. My friend frequently comes into my office room, calls my name until I look at her and when mute myself in an imp meeting, she said I came to say hi.😡😡
VP fish - what do you see as a realistic exit from IBD? I'm sure at least some of you are not interested in pursuing MD and chasing annual fee targets? Also, how is your potential exit comp vs IBD?
Thoughts on moving from Big 4 audit to Financial Advisory? Pay jump would be about 50%, but the new firm is small. $25M in revenue and new office in my city - I feel like there is a good amount of risk. I’m a S1 about to be a S2
Infosys -- 13 (Including 15% variable) -- Permanent WFH -- Technical Test Lead IBM -- 17 (Fixed) -- Bangalore location -- Band 7A Need suggestions on basis of: 1) Annual Hikes 2) Work Life Balance 3) Career Growth YOE: 7yrs Tech Stack: Testing
Lateraled to a team that is structured differently than my former team. My last team was top heavy (3 partners:1 associate). My new team is the opposite (1 partner:4 associates). I’m assuming the work is there because the firm probably wouldn’t allow a partner to have that many associates otherwise. I’m having a difficult time ramping up. I’ve talked to the partner, who said not to worry about it, but my bonus is tied to hours (need 140 hours/mo until December, so just mildly panicked).
