Name and shame the firms doing stealth lay-offs.
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

Can someone please explain why this exists in my paylslip, is it good or bad from tax perspective and shall I ask my HR to decrease it???
Please help asap.

It was only like, a 3% cut, based on performance. I heard the severance is pretty solid - the firm is helping with placements too.
Everyone has different circumstances, it helps to consult with council that is experienced in labor litigation to guide you through the process. They can help evaluate your situation and provide guidance on what your options are.
I heard severance was 3 months
Were these at all levels? Or just A-SC?
how much was sev?
D1 how much severance you got?
Still negotiating
Damn, super strong move negotiating a severance package. What do you even say?

It's like a salary negotiation. They provide an offer and you provide a counter based on your situation. Based on how much leverage you have you might be able to get a better package
What leverage do you have when you're being laid off?
S&O the only area getting cut?...asking for a friend...
Heard SAP and TS&A are also getting cut
No cuts in Tech or HC
@deloitte14 @deloitte10 - is this eBay "you heard" (aka a rumor) or do you have a legitimate source?
Legit. They may not have started yet but plans are being formed. If you were off track at mid year, then you're on the list. That said, you are likely safe if your PE rating is 2. My guess is that as soon as PE ratings are final (aka march 18th for tech), we'll start seeing a few people let go
^next round likely around year end (may-june)
D10 what's your source?
Why would they lay off 3's? There's plenty of 4's.
What is the appropriate amount of severance?
That quite an exaggeration D16 - I have worked 6 years at D and averaged about 60/week. I have done fairly with mostly 2's an one 3. I think the firm generally does a decent job of evaluating performance even though the process is really painful and annoying. That said, my bigger concerns are with utilization and service line adherence (sap person not staffed on sap projects) as factor of laying off.
