I'd say ML due to headcount and better name recognition. Both are fine for L&E if that's the path you want to take for going in-house.
Morgan Lewis for sure
Pro
Morgan Lewis.
Probably MLB. My dept. uses Seyfarth for L&E, but I’d drop them if I could. On one hand, my impression is MLB is more lit heavy (could be wrong) and doing mostly lit could make it harder to go in house. On the other hand, the MLB L&E group in my market has almost no turnover and SS seems to churn associates like butter.
If you don’t mind my asking, why would you drop SS?
Morgan Lewis. You should be able to get an in-house job from either, but ML has a better reputation and should also have higher compensation.
MLB. Unless you want to be an annoying R&W underwriter counsel who has no understanding of transactional work…
Following and if anyone can chime in on the best big law firms for L&E in the DC area, that would be marvelous!
Gibson’s L&E group is very strong in DC.
