Learning curve when stating in public as a new hire vs starting in industry after a few years in audit - which would be more difficult?

audit for sure, industry's nothing after that

YMMV - as work will always depend on team, role, and deadlines/pace. In theory industry pace should be slower than public. However, the beginning should be/could be rough as there isn’t enough training (if any) or resources to assist you like public. Once you pick things up it should be manageable but the initial transition should be rough

Looking for advice on what to do with clients if I want to go in-house. We have 5 other attorneys so as of now my clients could likely be absorbed into the rest of the law firm. However if 1-2 of the attorneys here left that wouldn’t be an option. Has anyone done this and have tips?I don’t have an offer yet but I’m trying to prepare. My firm knows I’m exploring this as a career option.

I’m graduating with an MPH in Epidemiology in spring/summer 2023. I’m an international student and will have an OPT. Work as a GRA, great GPA, 5 years of experience in Oil&Gas compliance and internal controls before. Looking for a job in Austin or remote, preferably with a focus in MCH. I’d like to make the most money I can because I’m a single mom. Should I start with state employment to gain relevant experience, or can I try private companies right away? Any recommendations are welcome!

Hi, could use some advice here. I’m (24m) and I work as an SDR in the SaaS industry. My company basically goes to other SaaS companies and does their outbound sales for them. So I’ve had two different clients in the 8 months I’ve been here. Quota is 10 outbound a month and little pay for base/hitting quota. I want to get out of here and have been applying but hearing lots of “no’s”. I’m not going to give up. Any advice? Any way I can better sell myself to get a better paying job?

My wife’s friends say they approve of me because I defer to her needs and do chores and stuff, but my friends and family don’t approve of my wife for the same reason (she wants things and doesn’t like to clean). The truth is I do it all because she’s an investment genius and made millions for us and our kids, but I don’t know how to say that without sounding like I’m bragging. She also has this way of doing things for us that’s under the radar so no one sees it except me.

Have we ever figured out why people jump up as soon as the seat belt sign comes off? Just landed in Jamaica with 0% chance of people having to rush to connecting flights and everyone popped up asap. Then it took 10 minutes for the jet bridge to be ready. 🙄

Out of curiosity, what are exit opportunities for those in the tax field? Can we also transition easily to other pursuits such as Wealth Managemnt/IB or Consulting?

Does audit/advisory have an easier transition into other roles as compared to those in tax? Or is it an un-said thing that we are on equal footing?

Once had a B4 Partner laughed at me and told me, "Kid, get out of tax immediately. You'll be stuck there forever."

Honestly, wtf did he mean?

Appreciate honest/blunt answers 👍
