Best agencies in Vancouver?
How do those of you working as independent contractors land projects? I've just gone through agencies so far, doing my best to weed out the sketchy/stingy ones. I know of some of the big consulting firm talent boards for contractors, but haven't had any luck with those so far. There aren't a ton of projects on those.
usebraintrust.com seems like an interesting model in cutting out the middleman. Unfortunatey, I didn't do good enough on the interview.

Aren't there trainings for those programs at EY?
AT EY DA is rarely used by risk professionals in IT Audit or Internal Audit engagements. If it is, they outsource it to the DA team. Personally I thought this was one of the biggest burdens of working at EY - I wanted diverse experiences and to actually use my degree for something more than copy/paste.
What’s the next firm
Maybe the reason has more to do with the fact that you're going to a boutique and not a firm with 300k employees? Little bit cheaper and easier to train a few people than a quarter million
I haven’t really found much of a need for these in IT audit, it’s mainly just screenshots with a bit of excel work for me. Maybe it’s cuz I’m an associate?
In the internal audit space I have found some key cost saving things companies can do around automating certain procedures in IT controls. Unfortunately SM's refuse to let me recommend because "it just doesn't sound feasible."
Haha everyone can say they are teaching employee xxx tools. At the end of the day it’s still up to go you take time after work and learn those, and you can do that at any firm.
Besides, just because you are told to learn those doesn’t mean that are incorporated into your daily workflow. You could be learning new tools but continue to do things the old way, retaining very little of what you learn.
This has been my biggest issue. Approved to use powerbi and alter your and never get to use them. One time we did use PBI, the managers and partners said it was confusing to read and pushed it back to excel lmao
To be honest B4 do have learnings for Python, SQL as well as data visualization. Their just for not as useful for people in Audit. No point training everyone on SQL when theres no way your using that in Audit.
