I say yes OP. Especially if no travel means you get to be home more with a SO or kids
So you're taking the cut to have better hours?
So you're making 156k as a manager and you want to go work a 9-5 for 131K? I guess depending on your field and what kind of life/work balance you're looking for.. it may not be that bad.
Yes. Time is more valuable than money. Anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves.
...can't get that time back
I just took a cut that size and haven't regretted it one bit, you'll realize how out-of-whack your priorities were in consulting
I'm expect that you can make a lateral move without having to take a cut. You're going to pay for it down the line anyway with slower salary progression so you need to account for that
Only if you think you'll really like the industry job, you have upward potential in the company, and truly hate what you do now. Reduced hours isn't enough to make you happy (I'm guessing) and you may find yourself bored to death.
Exactly PwC3. Time is priceless. That sounds like a good deal.
I took a cut and it was totally worth it
Unless you live in NYC or sf 131 is a solid salary
May be worth it given the 40 hour work week, unless you're currently working 40 hours a week
and because I don't see myself as a SM
I'm a lowly consultant, but I would take that in a heartbeat
@Deloitte 4- you took a cut to join Deloitte? Why?
Yes!!
Yes! I'd take it in a heartbeat. I actually like the traveling but I'm about to have kids and the thought of not being around to have dinner on the weekdays, just seeing them on the weekends, I feel like I'd be missing out on a lot of their childhood.
No fucking wat
Way*
Depends on the % cut...
