I’m in FS and my last day is Friday:
• Returning your laptop in a COVID-19 world is all done via mail. After you submit your resignation in Workday, you’ll get an email with a link to a form to fill out. On this form you indicate your mailing address – they will mail you a box with a prepaid shipping label inside.
• I communicated the news in the same day by setting up three separate 30-minute calendar invites with: my Career Coach, my Relationship Leader, then my Talent Consultant (HR) in that order. HR told me to formally submit my resignation in Workday, which triggers offboarding emails being sent to you. Also, before putting in your 2 weeks notice you can go to Fathom in your PwC-managed Google Chrome bookmarks and search for “offboarding FAQs” and you’ll find a PDF checklist of all the things to do before leaving. A link to this checklist is emailed to you once you submit your resignation in Workday, too.
• Things to do during your last 2 weeks:
(*) Take a bunch of CPE courses in Vantage. Print out your CPE credit report (I think if you search for “VCM Compliance” in Fathom you’ll find a link where you can print it).
(*) Since we just started a new fiscal year AKA new plan year for insurance, use all your insurance. I went to Lenscrafters yesterday and got new prescription glasses. I also got annual exams done (vision, dental, women’s health).
(*) If you’re in the market to purchase a large home appliance, check out PwC Perks at Work and look at employee pricing (go to the respective websites and enter in your zip code though to see whether the items are available for delivery in your area / in-stock).
(*) If interested in Gympass, sign up for it before leaving as you’ll continue having Gympass membership for 3 months after leaving the firm.
(*) Or as an alternative, sign up for Active & Fit Direct via PwC Perks at Work. It’s a $25/month membership (month-to-month) and you get access to thousands of gyms nationwide (LA Fitness, Gold’s Gym, Anytime Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, Planet Fitness, Curves, some YMCAs, etc). Your membership stays even after leaving PwC so long as you keep paying each month. A super awesome benefit that not many people know about at PwC.
• Regarding 401k, I’m not sure yet – call PwC Help and find out. PwC manages its own 401k in-house, so that’s the right place to call to ask questions.
I was with EY but I assume it’ll be similar with KPMG. They sent me an empty box and I included my laptop/badge/portable monitor and mailed this back. I contacted HR first then my counselor, then partners and rest of my teams. For my last two weeks, I did CPE, did the separation checklists, pinged friends. KPMG should have information about your 401k in your separation papers, otherwise Fidelity contacted me after I left to discuss rollovers/alternatives.
When I left, I just brought the laptop down and they had me sign a piece of paper. Didn’t have the laptop bag and nobody said anything. I first told my PML, then HR, then my immediate team (which my PML happens not to be part of in my case), then called the 2 partners who were mentors for me. I received an email and then a letter on paper about the pension plan and 401K. To be honest, I was busy wrapping up admin staff the entire two weeks before leaving. Yes, try to get a transcript for classes you took. If you have a dependent care account, handle withdrawing the funds if you can. Submit expenses. Check if you don’t owe PTO by any chance (I was in the negative when I left). I would highly recommend calling coworkers from other offices or services lines and telling them how much you appreciate having met them. Good luck!
