Even if option 1 they'll still pay you for two weeks. If you aren't starting until January put in your two weeks on Monday. If you don't want to work this week put it in tomorrow. Team will adjust.
Author, if you put in the two weeks notice they will pay you for those two weeks even if they push you out early.

I don’t understand option 2: what do you mean work you up? We have 1.5 weeks of shutdown soon.
I knew someone who left for a rival firm this time of year once. They put in their notice the Friday before Christmas, didn’t disclose where they were going, and their last day was the first Monday back after New Years.
You know the saying.. past performance doesn't mean future performance.
They could easily decide to boot this time around.
I would personally give notice in January
To not burn bridges, give them as much notice as possible.
Your direct colleagues might not like that, it might even annoy a partner, but payout isn't done by the partner and finance has more important stuff to do than worry about the grudge of 1 partner..
