Leaving my gig. Have 55k in Roth 401k and 5k in traditional 401k. What should I do? Roll the 55k to my Roth IRA and then the 5k to my new employers traditional 401k?

That is probably the best way. You could roll the traditional into an Ira also, but that would make a backdoor Roth messier if you do that or will do that. You could always leave it where it is is you wanted.

like

Yeah I didn’t want to move a small amount to a Ira to avoid confusion for backdoor. I will likely move it to my new 401k just to keep everything in one spot

like

Move Roth 401k to Roth IRA.. Move your 401k to IRA to Roth IRA. You may have to pay taxes on 5k now. But it is better to pay now than on future with trillions printed every year

Sure. If you’re retired, that conversion ladder works nicely. If you’re not retired, it’s a bit trickier. One downside for my parents was a pension. They’ll never be in a low enough income bracket to make that stuff work. I suppose that’s a nice upside of the individually and 401k approaches.

They REALLY prioritize their employees, and the benefits are absolutely incredible. I hear a lot about toxic EA cultures at *certain* other companies and Snap just does not do that. (Be warned: it's a FAST pace.)

Stuck here. Offer A is 5 days a week in office, commute is not too bad, 95k. Offer B is hybrid two days in office, commute sucks, 100k and better benefits. Really great vibes with the entire team at offer A even though the company is a bit old school. Offer B more progressive company, but I 100% felt like I was the back up's backup and they waited for their top picks to reject before my offer. I know for a fact I was Offer A's first choice.

For those at large tech companies with ESPP, do you sell immediately or hold? I've been holding but realize this is going to lopside my portfolio pretty quickly since I'm maxing my contributions. At what income levels does it make more sense to do traditional vs Roth 401k? I typically max out my 401k, doing 10ish percent with 2 to 4 % going to Roth. I never really thought too hard on it - seemed beneficial to do both, but is there an income level at which it makes more sense to do one vs the other? Also does anyone take advantage of HSAs or after tax (not Roth) contributions or any other things like that?
