3. Ask for help. I used a career coach since there lots I know how to do but not as many things I want to do. She helped me narrow my focus, and in my case we decided a functional resume was better than a traditional one which got me more traction.
4. Take a break. Job hunting is a part time job and if it gets overwhelming step back for awhile.
5. Find support. I had a network of trusted friends who I've helped and have helped me, whether it was making introductions, discussing strategy or just venting.
6. Appreciate luck. I'll be honest, this role was a random match. I don't know why I applied because the description was vague and doesn't really describe what I'm be doing, but my experience is a perfect match for what they want this role to do.
McK1 you're right, a lot of them are rah rah feel good people. I didn't need a cheerleader, I needed to make sure I knew what I wanted to do and was putting my best foot forward, professionally speaking.
Contact colleges and universities. Many of them have career development centers and they can often refer you to a career coach. There are professional associations many of them belong to which can give you a directory of members. Interview as many as you can and ask direct questions.

What was the TC?
Do career coach also aid in navigating issues at the org such as relationship/network development ? I am an introvert and I find it hard developing relationships and I see relationships as 70% of the game in consulting. Relationships and smart self marketing
Certainly they can give ideas, suggestions and support, and they may also be able to help you develop an approach that is authentic given your personality and comfort level (fellow introvert here). But it's unlikely they'll know the details around your specific firm so it may not be as specific as you're wanting.
Thanks for the advice :) this is helpful. And congratulations!
Congrats on the L7 offer! How many YOE do you have?
More than 15 YOE, 4 in Consulting.
What’s the role and TC? Are you an M at D? With that yoe shouldn’t you be an SM or higher?
Coach
Consulting firms always want to down level people, if the person doesn’t have apples to apples experience.
Coach
What’s the TC? That’s all we care about. Save the other tips.
