Really easy to boomerang back as long as you left on good terms. At the level you left, the big 4 normally appreciate that you now have industry experience to bring to the table and a fresh POV.
I would just consider the things that made you leave big 4 in the first place and make sure those things won’t be a problem anymore. Did you leave because you didn’t like the proposal work or internal work? That won’t be any different. Did you leave because you didn’t like the group you were in or a partner you worked with? That can definitely be different this time around
Thanks! I left because I wanted to try out industry and really like the company the role is in. Also didn’t help this was right when covid started so leaving for industry just seemed safer as at that time seemed like big 4 deals advisory/accounting advisory groups were going to have a harder time. Figured if I had the itch to try something different, now was a good time given my level and some stability in a tough economy
How long have you been in this new role? Have you given it a chance? What do you like about it? What don’t you like?
It’s been six months. I like the people I work with, and seeing things from a preparer perspective versus a consultant. I can see this building me up for more senior accounting roles in industry. What I don’t like is the growth seems much slower than what was described in the interview process, and work life balance isn’t too different then being in advisory.
Seen it a lot. Should be easy as long as you have experience, doesn't even have to be the same firm.
Had about 6 years at the firm, worked at a smaller firm for 2 years prior to that
Yea boomerang is normal but what about another firm?
Would six months be too soon to try this?
