Left NYC because of covid, but current living situation is becoming toxic to my mental health. Is it worth risking it to fly back to NYC?

Yes. Go back to NYC. Your mental health is most important. If you find solace in the city, then go back and be smart. Social distance guidelines are not difficult. Be sensible and have self discipline.

Should be fine. Just don’t be an idiot and take unneeded risk

Bring the virus back home yayyy

Also cases in NYC declining while rest of country (including where I am currently) are still plateaued and father behind on the curve so thinking it could make sense in that regard too

In a slightly similar situation, but would need to find a new lease in NYC atm. Considering finding a place and going back end of May/early June regardless of when we return to offices

Go for it, I plan on going back relatively soon, my roommate tested positive for antibodies so I’m not worried about him, will see my girlfriend too, also don’t plan on going near any at risk people, looking forward to getting my life slightly back to normal

Gloves and mask and you'll be fine

I strongly support putting your mental health first. Just ensure you make your trip safe (have several pairs of gloves, several masks, sanitizer, don’t touch your face, sanitize your seat, stay away from others). NYC people have helped flattened the curve by sheltering at home as much as possible, listening to social distance guidelines and wearing protection. As long as you apply these methods, you will be safe in NYC and hopefully in a better mental state. Ps. You are not alone

What is the situation? Did you leave NYC and go back home to stay with family?

Currently working at Accenture as a C (promoted Dec ‘19), but I know I ultimately want to make the jump over to Deloitte. I am on track to be promoted to M in the 2021 promo cycle and I know Deloitte would likely knock me down one level either way. Due to COVID-19, it seems like it doesn’t make sense to jump ship for at least another year while things get back to normal. Any thoughts on if it’s better to wait it out and leave after making M (but how long after?) or try to leave earlier? TIA

Started working a week after graduating last May. Was on track to be one of the top staff performers and then COVID hit. Since working from home I am one of the lowest performers. Anxiety and stress are crippling my ability to succeed. I have social anxiety which makes wfh communication extremely difficult. Managers - how much patience would you have with someone who was doing well pre-pandemic but has been struggling ever since? Should I start planning for a new job? (In case I get fired)

I’m sure this won’t come across well but I have to say it… my husband and I make good money (about $600k combined) and are grateful for it but these Biden tax increases are going to kill us. The truly rich don’t get hit hard meanwhile it sucks to be an upper middle class family. No matter how much I make somehow my take home seems to keep going down.

I’m in a small, close knit bar. I love my firm (not biglaw) and the people I work with but I really, truly hate billing hours. I am interviewing with a boutique firm that does not track billables and has a great rep for work/life balance. I’m excited at the prospect of more $ for less time, but will also feel guilty to leave my firm after they spent significant resources over the past few years “raising” me, only to lose me. Tell me I’m being silly and that this won’t burn bridges.
