Left to join industry 6 months ago and it has not gone well. Thinking of switching to another company or even back to consulting to regain some work life balance.
How bad does it really look to have a 6 month stint on the resume? Would you stick it out for a year?

Your personal happiness is more important than an extra 6 months on a CV. Any decent manager looking to hire you will understand you tried something, it didn’t work and now you have a better idea of what you want. I think that’s a plus. Life is short, when you wake up in the morning your job should give you energy not take it away.

6 month stint is fine, try and stay 2 years + in the next job and recruiters probably won’t care.

If you went from consulting to a tech start up, you could try an established tech company (like FAANG) for better WLB and the higher pay!

I did 6 month stint in the middle of my career with no issue. Also I learned a lot from the experience- made me a better manager.

You’re thinking about going from industry to consulting for WLB?

@EM At big 4: variable in each project but 55 hours a week on avg.
Now: 70

Making significantly less per hour 😢

You’re making less in the industry? Consulting is known to have worse wlb and lower pay

Making higher salary now but longer hours. Overall a worse deal in my eyes.

During the panny, my agency moved a handful of us to a different office with no choice. Basically said we’d be fired if we didn’t comply. When we asked if we would ever have to move to the new city, we were given no answers for months. Now, they’re saying back to office in September and I have a feeling they’ll be expecting us to move. Should I ask for money to move? I personally can’t afford to and told them from the start I can’t move. Also, I really don’t want to leave my S/O. Help!
