Legal/Ethical Question - This woman who was an intern at my company downloaded the creative executions for a project she didn’t work on and wrote her own copy to go with it to put in her portfolio. The campaign is actually on hold right now and hasn’t been launched yet. It definitely doesn’t sit right with me for her to do that but could she get in legal trouble? Do I tell my agency?

I would err on the side that she doesn’t know that’s not appropriate and if you feel comfortable reach out to her to let her know she should take it down. I’d take the approach of it being a teachable moment for her before it becomes a bigger issue. Then you can escalate if she doesn’t respond well. Remember interns often don’t know better and she’s likely to be extremely grateful and apologetic if you help her out by getting to her before it becomes a bigger deal.

Exactly this. I had a direct report post some client confidential decks of work to LinkedIn because she didn’t know that was wrong. (Not sure how she didn’t know, but that’s a whole other issue.) I let her know it was inappropriate and she removed them immediately. Assume that the intern just doesn’t know and approach this as a teachable moment.

Can her portfolio be viewed without a password? That’s a no-no. I’d contact her first and let her know that it’s not cool that she’s using work she didn’t contribute to, but also that she could be in some hot water too. See what she says, and if she refuses, then go to mgmt.

like

Also do you know for sure that she didn't contribute to the project in any way? Were you with her on every project she had been on? If not, I'd frame it as "Hey, I didn't know you worked on that while you were at COMPANY" and ask a little more about it. Then address the it-hasn't-been-launched-yet thing

Snitches get stitches. On a more serious note, approach them directly. They don’t need to get blacklisted or have a massive lawsuit.

I took a transformation lead role in industry a year go. However, my role is de facto program manager lead per internal job title. However, I wear multiple hats. I have a small team of project mgrs and oversea the deployment of transformation initiatives. I also manage the financials (cost savings) for the transformation and report that up to CFO. How do I position this experience for new opportunities? I know the stigma that comes with PMO roles so I’m worried about exit ops? Looking for advice

Potentially a dumb question, but for the employment history part of the application, should you include internships? If so, do you annualize the amount of your internship pay? I’ve included them in my resume but feels a little weird to put them at the same level as my first full time job.

I need to know if I’ve pigeon-holed myself. I have an undergrad in music business, and got a lot of good experience then. Worked in live events for 4 years before returning to law school, intending to practice in entertainment law (specifically music). Got a summer internship at a boutique entertainment firm, but no offer due to the small market. Moved to a larger market, but I’m not in one of the “hotspots”. I’m in-house currently, and have moved up quickly. (Cont.)
