(Cont…) My work equipment is showing it will arrive tomorrow by 4:30pm, so my first day will likely be short. No laptop and no cell phones means my team will see their organizational structure change and then can’t find their boss.
Congratulations on your new job! I'm happy to see a manager who takes their leadership responsibilities very seriously.

I started my new job in virtual environment on a Monday. Turns out I couldn’t login to system till Thursday as my 2FA wasn’t working. I was freaking out and calling IT thrice a day but my Boss was chill. After I logged in on Thursday, he told me that everyone goes through this and first two weeks is just familiarizing myself with the company, Team etc. I’m 6 months in now and Hybrid (2 days a week in office), and can see that there is no impact of those initial 3 days.
I wouldn’t worry about it. Lean on your peer and send an email/schedule one on ones your second day.
Have the assigned peer give you an orientation to the team and org, org structure and general scope and OKRs, existing new joiner material. Then schedule a introduction with your team (with the peer in the loop), and introduce yourself as a person (not too much work on the first meeting. 2 slides with some pics from your life and hobbies, family help). Then 1:1 with your directs to get to know them and R&R, make a list of things you want to learn and owners who can help you with it, and resources

I’ve onboarded virtually twice during the pandemic and no issues. Just do what they need you to do from home and dress professionally from the waist up
Definitely connect with your peer as soon as possible (which may be your second day from the sounds of it) for a meeting to kick you off.
Schedule one-on-ones for your first week with all your team members to better understand what areas they work on and to get to know them.
Spend your other time completing any company trainings and familiarizing yourself with important team files.
Just go with the flow dude
