Nah. I used to be tempted but everyone seems to burn out so much faster. One friend still hangs in there at GS but he's just biding time until his nest egg is big enough for him in the next couple of years so he can quit and become a teacher. And find his meaning of life again lol.
Chose consulting over banking and then chose federal consulting over commercial consulting. Probably the odd one out in my office but the way I look at it, anything over 70k coming out of school is a good enough salary to be happy and money can't buy time
Nope
Not at all
No interest. Turned down ibanking so fast! 🙂
Can't possibly be a manager at 25
Trust the process
Why?
But that's just temporary then you get to go into PE and work the 9-10 life and get paid like 250 when you're 25
Well said SA1, shoot for the moon, land among the stars!
BCG way different than big 4
BCG is as strong as working for Goldman i think
My GF and all of her friends are bankers and ex-bankers and laughed at me and thought I was crazy when I expressed interest in IB during my MBA. Having said that, they were VP level and pretty much "over it." I think there is only 1 left out of the 6 or 7 that stayed in the business. All went to industry gigs for a better life, none went to PE.
What kind of industry gigs?
Nope , not interested
Nope. If I was after the money I'd have gone into trading -- normal hours and huge upside
Close, not quite. Most bankers will get $140-170k this year 85 + 10 + 40-80k
Would have rather been a doctor. Hustle and bust your ass until ~30 and then you're set for life. Let's be honest, most of us just mill around during our 20s anyway. Partners busted their ass to get there, and then their work/life balance is shit while trying to maintain a family. Partner money would be great, but those with families look miserable AF in my opinion.
Seriously, IB is so easy to get into these days. I saw a BB recruiting for IBD at Boston College of all places. This isn't 2006 anymore.
Do big 4 exit directly to C-Suite? Don't think I've ever seen this happen
