Let’s hear some stories of adversity and overcoming challenges. Socioeconomic, race, gender, disability etc. Work or personal. I think we all need some inspiration that we can overcome, no matter what.

I met this really humble, kind guy at Deloitte. He was a top preformer and very well spoken. He was really into the non profit firm initiatives. I learned from LinkedIn that he was homeless growing up with a single mother. He now is getting his mba from upenn fully paid for by Deloitte. Very well deserved especially for how helpful he was to others.

Uhhh. Amazing. 🥲

It’s an older story, but one day I was walking home from school just minding my own business. Then I saw a kid, probably homeless on the streets, asking for cash. I admit I don’t usually give money in those situations but something struck me that time and I gave that kid 50 bucks, and told him to do anything he wants with his life and never give up on his dreams because everyone matters. And believe me or not that kid grew up to be Barack Obama.

And now you know...the REST of the story

Quit consulting at end of my first year after undergrad without anything lined up because of lack of confidence and impostor syndrome despite actually liking the work. Really questioned if I was good enough for any demanding job. Ended up at a growth stage startup after a few months where I’m now a high performer and love the people I work with. 2 promotions in 4 years and now gearing up bschool applications. The support I received at this startup gave me a lot more confidence in who I am, my work, and what I want in life. Going to try and take a stab at MBB/T2 recruiting during bschool and give consulting another shot.

Ugh I wish everyone could meet him. I haven't met many gems like him. Sometimes the nicest people have an interesting story about overcoming adversity.

My whole life is this story. Almost killed in a wreck as a kid, and due to that I have had more surgeries than I can count on my hands and feet. Half blind and mostly deaf well before 40. You never overcome it...just learn from it and become even more resilient.

Hey fishes, I will be joining Deloitte USI as a Consultant (SAP) next month. Appreciate if you could help me up with a few queries! 1. I have heard Deloitte provides access to platforms like Udemy, Coursera. Do they have special discounts on various courses? 2. What is the leaves policy like (Sick leaves, vacations, etc). Also, I have heard that 25th December to 2nd January week is a complete off, is it true? 3. Has anyone done SAP certification and do they provide SAP Learning Hub Access

I never thought being a mom would be this difficult. I am working full time, have an infant who wakes up every 3-4h and doesn't fall back asleep unless held in arms, am breastfeeding for medical reasons, and feel resentful and beyond tired all the time. I hate the fact that my body is so different to how it was before, that I don't have a sense of self any more, that I can't disconnect and take a break (and this is likely to not change for years to come). Is this normal or unfit to be a mom?

I’d have freedom to use that money to invest in real estate. when i pull my yearly salary out in retirement I’d Atleast be in the 22% bracket if not higher. Since the last 3 dem presidents have increased spending like crazy i expect massive tax hikes in the future. Am i wrong?

Hi Guys, recently I received offers from 1. CTS & 2. EY GDS. EY offer is way lesser than my 1st offer from CTS, citing my low current salary. So, I haven't accepted the EY offer yet in the hope that it will be revised. Tech : SAP BW & SAC Planning, YOE 13 yrs, role offer : SCON 3, 26.5 fixed. I believe I should get around 32 fixed & HR is low balling me both on role & salary. Suggest me some strategies to get this offer revised.
