Years of residual

IDK... I sat on a call with Deutsch Bank economists the other day and they said we are two weeks behind Italy and Spain who are peaking now, so likely we will do a “staggered” opening of some sort, and the economy would bounce back fast from mid May, within 6 months. He used the Nike swoosh as the analogy. Sharp decline, with a relatively sharp correction. That’s macro tho. Who knows...

I’ll add that I’m talking about pure “recession” in it’s definitive form. The 1918 recession lasted 7 months and the world is more agile than then.

Given how contagious this is, things aren’t going to go back to normal quickly without a vaccine

I think there will be a period of layoffs after busy season when the pace slows to help recover from business losses across the firm. Later in the summer I think hiring will slowly resume but most will try to do more with fewer people so to keep profit margins.

Well, for starters, I was just laid off.

Are you GT?!

I think firms that don't do lay-offs will hire slowly, anyone that does lay-offs will need to restaff quickly.

What role would have a better QOL, career versatility, intellectual stimulation, and income trajectory-corporate tax in-house role or a T&E partner with a law firm (boutique or Vault 100/Am law 200)? I’m aware of family office roles for T&E folks that are hybrid investing/tax/legal roles with tremendous upside (high six figure income with reasonable hours) and I’m not sure if once you go tax in-house, you’re pretty much a tax in-house guy forever (maybe rare pivot available to finance C-suite)

Deloitte: I see there is an HR policy that allows you to go 60-80% whenever you want to/in any role so long as there is a business case. Does this ever happen in consulting? Is it more likely to be approved in certain groups/with certain skills? I’m thinking it might be feasible to stay here if I could could go on a reduced schedule after baby 2. If that’s something I could work towards and prepare for in the year or so prior, I’d like to set myself up well for it! Any insight is appreciated!

Hi! I have around 13 months of exp in LTI. My current project assignment gets over by December. And I want to change role after 18 months. Is it a good idea to continue and jump to another project in the middle ? Or its better to sit on the bench until that happens? If latter is the case, how do I ask my manager to be benched after my assignment? I'm not sure how benching works. Do I get salary? Please help me understand

I understand I need to make some direct deposits before June, and as long as I don't withdraw, I'll qualify for 3% starting in July. I only plan on staying in consulting for about 2 more years then off for an MBA. Would it be more worth it to take a level and pay raise at a different big4 moving to senior level rather than going to associate/analyst level at MBB? These are my two choices at the moment. I want to position myself best for post MBA jobs in industry. Salary will def be lower at MBB compared to the senior level at big4 so not sure if it’s worth the trade off in experience.
