Let’s say you just got promoted from mid to senior. And you got a 15% raise. And yet that 15% puts you still 15-20k below market rate. What do you do??

1.5 years into consulting and got an offer at respected family office for an investment associate role starting in 2-3 months. Competitive comp. Is it worth waiting for other non-cycle processes at more traditional buy out shops or take what you can get? I’m not in a rush to leave my current job and up for promotion soon FWIW

In my role since Mar 2019, talked to mgr about tracking to promotion at year end. Was told last year-end I was tracking to promotion by year-end 2021, so wanted a pulse check. Was told things are going well, but needed more consistency and should shoot for mid-year 2022. I asked feedback for pushing back 6 months, told I needed more time so that a recent time off stint wasn’t fresh in partners’ minds. I took 3 days off for a child admitted to hospital emergently. Thoughts?

Curious about those of you working 100% remotely and managing a remote team, the full marketing budget, and all organic and paid strategy as far as salary. I suspect I might be well positioned for a raise based on all that I do but curious to hear from other remote MDs if $85k sounds about right for a 9 person team (I’m one and three of the other 8 are my direct reports) and revenue between $1-2mil. I also manage another department and am the face/voice of our very visible online show.

Those who left for investing associate roles, did you push to make EM (or equivalent) before leaving?
