2001, Big 4 in Chicago, $52k Audit while another Big 4 firm offered me $53k. Heard 2000 was $45k (same firm, office, practice) so most of associate 2 was making less than associate 1 just started the firm 😭 This tend continued and I was making more than most managers (M1 to M3) when I was Senior 3….

2007 - Dallas - Big 4 - IT Audit - $48,500 What is crazy to me is I bought my current townhome on my first year salary by myself. It was $130k and brand new. Today, first year Big 4 IT auditors make like $5-8k more than me but the townhomes I’m in are now selling around $250k (up to $290k with the recent crazy real estate hike currently) and 10-20 years old. Basically, if I started out of college today, I couldn’t buy my home.

I had the same realization! I bought my house when I was single making half of what I make now. (2 1/2 years out of undergrad in LCOL area) for $135k in 2013. Comparable houses in my sub are $220k.

Can we get an intern to compile all this data and send to the wsj. The world needs to know how little salaries have changed over time.

Well there’s been very low inflation the last 10 yrs. It’s not like a starting jr acct is bringing more skills/productivity out of college now than 10 yrs ago. Plus the offshoring of a lot of US Acctg/tax work.

Considering MBB offers here. Background = ~2YOE at tier 2 (think LEK/EYP/S&). I've heard and seen that McK experienced hires often do worse on average than BCG/Bain esp at junior levels and wanted to get some thoughts on how I should make my decision. Thank you!
