This year’s ROMBA felt underwhelming. Partying was ok, per usual, but the conference itself felt blah. Panels were mediocre, corporate events were cheap-ish, there weren’t enough senior people. Even hooking up was just twinks on twinks on twinks mostly (not into them, so choices were very limited). Is it post-covid, corporate cost cuts or something else?

I am feeling down. I make $113k and my retirement savings rate is 20%. The amount of money that hits my bank account every month is $4100. I bought a $230k house, which I thought was reasonable for my income. My mortgage is $1850 and my utilities are like $300/month. So my housing cost is like 50% of my take home. Then when shit breaks, (water heater, roof etc.) It's like I can't get ahead. I drive a cheap car, I don't go out to restaurants,at all but life just seems to cost more than $2k/month.

Tips to transition to Product Management early in your career?
I’m at a fast-paced small-medium-sized tech company 6 months into my first corporate job and am trying to transition to PM by or at the 1-year mark. I’ve seen it happen, and in my company as well, so I know it’s possible. But what are some things an aspiring PM should start doing to transition to the role soon?

I quit my job on Tuesday this week. Two days later, my fiancé who worked in the same department as me got terminated unexpectedly and with no prior warning or any prior communications about performance worries or anything else. The only logical reason we can come up with for his termination is retaliation for me quitting. I think he has grounds to file for wrongful termination, but we live in an at will state. Anybody with employment law knowledge and any insights here?

Has any of you experienced impostor syndrome? At 24, I’m making more than anyone else in my family ever did, and the reason is that I started learning English and working in tech at 16. I feel incredibly guilty and like I don’t deserve my income. I need to get over this to progress in my career. Thanks!
