Got interviewed in top companies through third party recruiters and now waiting for final decision & offer from all 3. But my goal is to get full time role which is hard due to my OPT status. Advice?
Hey 🐠, in first 5 years if goal is to move around to maximize salary, how much does compensation growth slow down in jumps after 5 years? Don't want to job hop forever.
I’ve been struggling at work, trying to get a promotion but it isn’t going to happen. I confided in my wife about this, telling her it was hard because I thought I deserved it and that I’d been in my current position for many years. She listened and offered advice, which I appreciated. Last night we got into an argument (not about work) and in the heat of the moment, she yelled at me that my stupidity is why I’m not getting a promotion. It cut me deep, I’m still hurt. How do I get over this?
Just signed an exit offer for a tech PM position — ~50% increase in TC. I’m looking forward to one of my last Monday’s in consulting. It’s bittersweet and very grateful for the experience I’ve had in consulting, but ready for the change!
A Facebook recruiter reached out to me a few days ago regarding an Application Security Engineering position and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the interview process for AppSec position? Or ways to prepare ? TIA!
Hello EY 🐠! Anyone kind enough to share what kind of questions you were asked by the interviewer when at interview? Specially for core tax, manager position. Wonder if it’s gonna be behavior question, technical, or mostly casual talk, etc? TIA.

Exit options after 6 months in ZS? DAA here. WLB has landed me in hospital twice and my client seems to only care that in my absense, work gets delayed. Also, please recommend any skills one should/can learn on weekends to enhance selection.

Hi! I plan to get my mba in 3 years. Been working at ey in tech consulting for the last 3 years, more beneficial to continue at ey or switch to a pe firm that focuses on enterprise software?
I just landed my dream job at a big tech company but I think I might have benefited from affirmative action. The recruiter mentioned how I would add diversity to the leadership team of the product...
Due to some room mate shifting I am going to shift from paying 900 a month to about 1300. Only other option was getting a single for 1400, I live in a low cost of living city so didn’t think getting a studio would be worth it consider I work from home. Total compensation will be just other 90k this year. Any tips for making sure I stay on the FIRE PATH? Concerned that I’m now forking over an extra 5k after tax in rent and realizing that losing potential room mates has huge financial implication
What's the best industry to work in with this remote work environment? I feel like travel made Consulting worth it, now I'm not sure to think.
Any Latinos feeling left out of all this diversity buzz? Seems we are always invisible :/
People always say sue the company or owner. Is it that easy to sue someone? Especially around employment when people are getting laid off due to Covid. I think Deloitte or any big consulting firm it’s not easy to sue them, they are well protected
So everyone I know is experiencing high turnover lately, doesn’t seem like it will slow down anytime soon. How many do you think are just choosing to go freelance vs. another agency? Anyone else seriously considering the plunge? Seems like freelance is pretty much staying remote which would be nice...
For folks that went from MBB/T2 into Big 4, why did you make that switch and did you get a boost in title that you would not have reached at MBB/T2.
I’m a 2nd yr. in M&A (if relevant: I’m billing on average 176 hrs, lowest month was 144, highest was 281, not getting paid market about 20-30k below). I’m considering a lateral move to Latham. Would love insight on the M&A group and the NY office as a whole, specifically culture but any insight or advice is appreciated.
Which of these two can get a job quicker? A. The one who resigned and currently unemployed B. The one who got fired
“A child really isn’ that expensive in the first 3-4 years” ~ Spouse 7 months ago. Our bank account after 7 months of pregnancy says otherwise. I’m excited to be a father and I want to be a good father, but there is zero chance this child is going to remember or even care what decorations we chose for the nursery. Advice on picking battles over expenditures for a future child?
I always get asked “do you have questions” in interviews. What are some good questions to ask that might impress the sr creatives I’m interviewing with?
I don’t want to work in my current firm even for a day more but I am lacking the motivation to prepare for the switch. Even when I get interview calls the imposter syndrome gets the best of me and...
Want to buy property in / near NYC. I know with covid prices in the city (I’m assuming the 5 boroughs) went down, while prices outside of the city went up. Is that enough of a move in the market to make it worth it to buy in the city (and not in Long Island for example)?
Ex-Consulant here that now works for a big name Real Estate Investment Trust. Saw on LinkedIn that EY has an America’s REIT Leader. Didn’t know that much attention was paid to the REIT space. Are there really consulting teams dedicated to the REIT space in the Big 4? Love working for a REIT and would love to jump back to consulting if there were teams dedicated to the industry. A partner submitted my resume to her firm’s recruiting department and I got called in for an interview. I’m researching the interviewers and one is the hiring attorney. Is that a good sign or routine? (I haven’t worked in big law to know.)
I (first year) need the crowds view: “Big deal” partner emails 2 partners (me cc’d) asking for a call. Having had trouble with the conference line, I send around a zoom link. The call starts, the 2 partners and I are on zoom. “big deal” partner calls me, yells that zoom link isn’t working, berates me, opens a conference line, tells me off in front of the other partners (I “wasted their time”). Is his behaviour warranted?
PowerPoint gurus - I’m helping a client find short term help for an important presentation. Please DM me if you are good at storytelling and slide design. You will be compensated for this work. This will be a 3-4 day part-time engagement. I’m at a small tech focused firm, and don’t have in-house designers as yet. Plus I don’t want to spend hours building slides. Nothing illegal or fishy here. Thanks!
