I have 5+ years of experience in life science (bench top, pathology in a hospital, startup, and most recently clinical research). Majority of my department has been informed we will need to look for other positions internally due to our jobs being outsourced. I know I want to transition to corporate strategy down the road, but don’t have much interest in financial service strategy. Should I try and switch into a more applicable practice such as M&A or operations? Will I be able to break into corporate strategy without any past experience in that industry? I want to avoid getting pigeonholed into FS, but with COVID, don’t want to leave.

I recently interviewed for a really well known, mature tech company that’s revered for its great culture. I was at the last round, after over a month of communication, interviews and challenges. I couldn’t even count hours I’d already put in. Then they ghosted me. It ruined my interest in the role anyway, but I’m still extremely disappointed with how they treated me.
