Let’s take a poll: What do you love/hate about your position in Insurance? I’ll go first:

Florida PIP Litigation 1+yrs at Progressive

Love: WFH, Flexibility of not being “chained to desk” all day because I don’t have to take outside customer calls, ability to complete work assigned at any time of day within 72hrs, no micromanaging from my Supervisor, feeling like I’m my own boss

Hate: getting assigned bulks from others and it throws off efficiency of reviewing suits, monotony, depositions

That seems to be common. The better you are, the more work they assign. I was always playing catch up for my peers. So frustrating.

like

Yeah, it’s surely not motivating to say the least. Like why work harder? But… you could keep track of what’s being assigned additionally and use that to support a bump in pay and or promotion..

I love the freedom and autonomy as an agency owner! But I hate having little to no control on pricing. Seem to be losing more than I write with no control.

like

I thought of delving into that field!! Then I remembered that sales/retention weren’t my strong points haha!

WFH for a small company and my boss lets me manage myself.
Last company in office, boss great person but bad manager = miserable.
Company and management style make a huge difference. I love my current company and am afraid to look elsewhere that it won’t be as good as here.

Only downside is the compensation. I could easily be making $30k+ what I make now if I were to leave but I’m afraid anywhere I make that much as a UW, it will be at the sake of my mental health because I’ll be overworked and micromanaged.

like

I completely understand and agree!! Two incomes make the cost of living so much easier!

like

I work BI complex a feel the same as you lol

funny

When I worked in BI, I hated having to deal with the Attorneys and Customers directly!! Call after call after call of never having enough money to satisfy them!!

like

This seems common! SLAs are there but adhoc requests keeps bugging!

like

Care to expand?? I’m not sure I fully understand the lingo haha!

Love the flexibility. Hate the pressure of meeting quotas.

like

Agreed!! We have “expectations” in my department but the trade off is that the opportunity to really grow is limited because we’re not necessarily a “production” department if that makes sense.. I’m still searching for the Unicorn that is high income, low pressure haha!

like

Plus work from home, manage my own work and have some decisions that I do make.
Minus is the work is lower paid for the industry and renewal of contracts is not compensated.

like

Love: Being with a smaller agency and being a part of the growth. Insurance is ever changing so there is always more to learn. Flexibility to WFH
Hate: The difficulty there seems to be now to locate new hires. Outside of my role with my company, my husband and I own a separate business, it is the same there.

Received an offer to join a consulting firm as a Consultant specializing in Data Analytics and Visualization. TC is $180K. I would work with the big tech clients. My current base barely breaks $160K but the equity brings TC to about $185K however we are still private so not really $185K. I’m not enjoying the current role and am beginning to look for other opportunities internally. I do like the company culture and people. Should I try to stay and accept the lower salary or take a risk and jump?

Hello my Fishies!
English is my second language. I learned it 8 years ago and I have been living in the US for the past 5 years. I communicate very well, but sometimes I feel so bad when I don’t, or when I forget an English word in the middle of a design presentation 😣… Sometimes I wake up and my English is not good that day, for realz.
Any other designers who struggle with this? What do you do to feel or do better besides working on your presentation skills?

Hi everybody! 😊
I've been working as a Junior Analog Design Engineer for a year and half.
I received a proposal for a Senior Analog Designer role from Bosch in the same city where I am currently working.
Should I wait and build up a few more years of experience before accepting a Senior role or should I jump in and work to fill the gap?
Next year, there will be an important deadline for the project I'm working on and my resignation could be critical for the team, how would you deal with it?
