Let’s talk about specializing in tax. I’m in AWM but hate it. I was thinking about Real Estate since those are partnerships as well, but not sure if it’s as mundane and requires crazy hours like AWM. Another interest of mine is Private Client Services, but it seems like it’s mostly individual returns. I know for sure that I don’t want to do M&A/SALT/R&D/Tax Tech and possibly provisions cuz I never understood those as an undergrad. Any recommendation? Would love to hear about your experience 🙏🏻

While my team has met the coverage expectations, we want to show the bigger picture impact of the media rel. program - i.e. relationship-building, inbound media opps, organic coverage, inbound sales or web traffic (that one’s probably a stretch).

The person mentioned that I will be replacing another resources for now who is on medical leave and would be working on something that is a little below my skill level. Once that resource is back (after 2-3months) I would be transitioning to a better role with more options to look and learn.

Modafinil and efficiency: Please share experiences with time-blindness, being inefficient and not 80/20 with tasks because of over focus. I feel on stimulants it's very difficult to be "quick" which is key in strategy consulting. Anyone have solutions here? Someone may need to hear this today: a staff/senior kissing your a** doesn’t make them a high performer. Your highest performers are probably quieter and don’t seek out attention for their hard work. Make sure you still pay attention to them and recognize them for their efforts, and for f**k’s sake please be able to distinguish between a legitimate high performer and someone who’s just a kiss-a**. You should be rewarding the former, not the latter.

I’m genuinely really not sure how to make this decision I have coming up. I’ve been offered a start-up role by a long time friend for an overly generous amount in cash and some equity. I am well established in my group and team and really have been buckled in on staying here for the long haul. We are talking about a 100% increase though and at my level it’s hard to not consider and I also love this guy on a human level so I feel stuck.

I work at one of the larger mid tier firms (think 5-10 in terms of revenue). The firm wouldn’t promote me from A1 - A2 citing poor utilization. I feel like I’m underpaid now. Should I try to get an offer from one of the big 4 and see if my company will match?

Would like to diversify work experiences and develop other skill sets; already a senior and performed at lousy staff level on those new jobs, how to resolve discrepancies on performance eval?
