What are you talking about? There are so many gays in consulting lol
1/3 of my team is gay. Where are you OP?
I don't know if that's true. Maybe it is, but maybe we need to think about this more. There are many gay people in consulting, but perhaps all of us are not flamboyant enough for you to know we're gay and thus adequately represented.
Underrepresented in what way? Have you actually compared the percentage of LGBT folks in consulting vs the percentage in the US population?
Maybe I should come over to Deloitte ππΌπ
yep, know several in our firm no doubt. Deloitte is very LGBT friendly. So is Accenture actually. Have had open gay managers at both
@OP definitely opposite of my experience. Worked at PwC for a bit right out of college, and had -zero- exposure to LGBT individuals there. At D, it's definitely a big part of our culture (at least in the West region).
Acn is very lgbt friendly. Have had a lot of exposure via our ERGs.
Everyone needn't be a walking talking out and proud card carrying stereotype.
@D1 worked with both gay managers and principals here. I'm gay as well, and have always felt super accepted by everyone at D.
I think all big 4 consulting firms are extremely diverse and gay friendly. I have never felt excluded. But I have noticed that compared to other practices (tax, audit etc) or even industry there are less openly gay management consultants.
From what I've seen our federal practice seems to be very lgbt friendly as well
The only underrepresented party in our industry is lipstick (or even chapstick) lesbians ππ
@D5 not underrepresented statistically when compared the US population but I feel as if management consulting is not "hot" in the LGBT community. That's the point I was trying to make...I could be wrong though π
Who cares? This whole LGBT thing is way out of control. I'm sure I'm not the only senior person who couldn't care less what color, gender or orientation anyone is. It's how well they perform at work that matters, nothing else.
Just seems like you're trying to drum up some unnecessary drama...
OP being gay doesn't qualify for someone to hire you. Unlike ethnicity or religion, it isnt representative of anything specific and is only an orientation
@D6 my point exactly. However, trying to gauge why not many LGBT folks in management consulting?! I would presume it's by choice...but why?? Let's discuss ππΌπ
