Can you write a tell-all?
My plan is to just open a bar. Simple. And then just advertise the shit out of it. Funny commercials, good decor. Have other people run it
Pull a MadMen and just live at a yoga retreat. Seriously.

How did you get your teaching creds? I liked your feedback and thanks.
Seriously I need ideas :)
90% of people in this industry need a second career just to keep working until a normal retirement age. Why did I sign up for this.
Start a business/side hustle you’re into, network with that industry, watch your business fail, get hired in a company that does what your business did at scale who will value your experience, passion and sacrifice.
There’s probably a book in that.
Have you thought about doing anything in an adjacent industry such as service & product design? Someone with your experience has seen all sorts of human behavior and cultures.
That’s my exit strategy (turning all my brand knowledge into product & service creation – for clients and my own start up.)
Consultancies. AT your level, making the switch should be pretty straightforward. Besides, the hours and pay are better than advertising. I have friends that made the jump, and they have found a way to make a living and have free time to enjoy life.
a consultant, or a consultancy company if you will, advice the client in any type of problems they have and provide strategic solutions with actionable steps to proceed. If the problem is in accounting, for example, the consultancy Will study the case and provide viable solutions. If it is a marketing problem like launching a new product or finding a unique opportunity, then your job will be to do all the strategy for it. It usually translates to advising on ways to improve the User Experience of X or Y problem|product. And no, you will not have to touch Photoshop or write any scripts. It is all about strategy and user experience. All done in a PPT file.
I think about that all the time. I’ve seen so many people get laid off/pushed out once they are over 50.

Why is a ceo asking this question
It’s a legit question, and one that’s hard to answer if you’ve been doing the same thing your whole life.
Teach.
Teachers make little $$$
Run a non profit
It would be immensely satisfying to create a little niche start up, get in with a couple big brands, which would then lead to one of the big hoco’s acquiring you for big bucks.
Trader Joe’s and Nordstrom are two great companies to work for
I’m with you CD1. 2 creatives just quit today over a bad campaign that the client has been twisting us in circles on. Now it’s fallen all on me. Seriously thinking of walking out and working at 711 instead
Help the people who weren’t as fortunate in this career and are looking at forced retirement and no savings. What would you tell them? What business insights could you share that are relatable or universal and personal that could help them survive. SBA and in NY there is SCORE that matches people who need to readdress their situations from of aging out of jobs or “management restructure” and need to basically start from scratch. You can help them brainstorm and succeed which may then also inspire you to figure out what do with your life. Win-win.
That’s a great idea. I will look into it. Thanks very much.
It all depends on your skills/background. But you should expect to earn a lot less unless you are still early in your career. I've seen ex-colleagues open small businesses or go into running non-profits. Some go client side. Some have done things like real estate. Most seem to cobble together freelance gigs on top of trying something new.
It all depends on how badly you need money or how much of this is a lifestyle change.
Please tell us that in your 35 years you built passive income...
Oh boy.
