I'm trying to get my male director to see the importance of diversity on a team, however I'm flopping. And now I hear that 2 out of 4 of us women on my team are thinking of leaving mostly because of his ignorant attitude towards diversity and inclusion efforts (more notably, though, sexist prejudice). Hello! Okay, so in the workplace when coworkers ask about holidays everyone always mentions their family - husband, wife, kids. I always feel so uncomfortable when they assume I have a boyfriend/husband when I have a female partner but I feel like correcting them or just saying my partner will get me judged. What do you wish design students would learn in school to ease the transition into needs of business? I have seen an increasing need for more education/inclusion/overlap into other areas of business that depend on design teams so they understand what goes into the process. As well as design teams into the other business teams. This would alleviate tensions and improve quality product delivery due to the major miscommunications that occur so frequently.

Does anyone have a recommendation for the best way to respond to "Well, how many people does this *really* affect?" from a stakeholder? This "Marketer" mindset needs to change, and I know my tone immediately changes for the worse when I hear this response. My most recent answer: "It doesn't matter; it only takes one person to file a claim." That was a knee-jerk reaction; I don't want to make it about the backstop the law provides. It's about inclusion informing better experiences for everyone.

Just had a series of interviews started in September and finally ended in November last week only to be told that suddenly I'm not a great fit for the job. Recruiter had called sometime in October and told me that I was a top candidate for the job and though they couldn't tell me to stop considering taking interviews with other companies they felt I was an almost lock for the job.
