educate yourself on aviation, how it works and how planes are constructed and operated! once you understand the parameters, you'll realize how much punishment they can take and how its practically impossible for turbulence to take down the plane. i fly all the time and still hate turbulent air. before i fly, i look at the pireps on the govts aviation weather center (Google pireps) and check the route on flightaware to set my expectations for the ride. knowledge is power...and comfort.
xanax before flights, make an appointment with a psychiatrist to inquire about it
Honestly, read statistics that you’re safer flying than driving or walking on the sidewalk and get over it.
D2 if only the brain worked like that.
Was traveling part of the job description when you took the offer?
Pop a dramamine and ptfo.
Also try flying a flight simulator to understand what’s happening at each stage of flight. Some might derive comfort.
Xanax and chill
Why not just use Xanax?
Turbulence is normal! I always tell myself that I can only freak out if the flight attendants freak out, otherwise there's nothing bad happening.
Op we play Russian roulette every day in our lives just doing the normal stuff we do
Striker? Striker? STRIKER!
There are ‘fear of flying’ courses you can take, in most cases paid by insurance if you can demonstrate it’s critical for your life (which is the case). Take them, heard that they really work. Good luck!
@M1 what?
I repeat statistics over and over in my head about how much safer it is than driving, which I do every day without thinking twice. I also pray even though I’m not really religious...you know, just in case. But if it’s really bad you may have an anxiety disorder, you should see someone
Thanks for all good pointers. Here is my reasoning which may not be correct and statistics can prove me wrong. But I’m thinking if i’m in a car accident there are chances of broken bones, ribs, few days or weeks in hospital. If I’m in a air plane accident - most likely it’s a Game Over. So we are actually playing Russian roulette every time we are boarding a plane
OP, technically yes. However, the chances of an accident are highest on takeoff and landing, where there may be additional options in the event of a major problem. Often the planes are designed with backup functions to mitigate the effect (fan that releases in the event of an engine failure to stabilize the aircraft).
OP, if you think about it statistically, how many people do you know who have died in a car accident? And how many do you know who have died in a plane crash?
op - in my area i could get a xanax or klonopin prescription just by going to urgent care and telling them i have horrible anxiety. may be a controversial subject but my opinion is pills help with travel a lot
