Flight delayed and deplaned...peasant travelers rush to line up at the desk, business travelers call the diamond line from the comfort of a seat drinking coffee watching the chaos 😂
I recently started at a larger software company as an AE. As I’m getting more into the process, I’m finding things odd. Like, cold calls and emails are metrics I’m judged on more than closed won business. I know that’s part of the job but it seems strange I’m judged on it so heavily. And, I seem to be the first real outside AE hire as everyone else seems to have been promoted up from SDR roles, including all of my direct management. I’m questioning if I made the right move. Stick it out or look?
What’s the difference in severity between messing up enough to get rolled off a project and enough to be put on a performance improvement plan?
“Let’s make the guy who gave his two week notice lead the client calls a few days before he leaves the firm”
In real estate private equity, 5 years experience as asset mgr. Should I stay at a firm with zero brand name recognition (new boutique started in 2018 outside of a major financial center with 750m AUM) where I am the main asset mgr as well as right hand man of the CFO but with 30% less than average comp. Or should I move to a bigger name with less responsibility/title prestige but with competitive comp and that brand name recognition? I plan to start my own firm in 5-10 years.
What are your personal financial milestones? Whether it be achieving a certain annual salary or maxing out your 401k contribution annually, etc.
So, we invest a total of 85K in the market each year (39K through 401k + 14k employer matching 401k + 12k roth ira + 20k 529). Still end up saving another 100k in cash each year. Should I invest it in real estate to diversify or continue investing in market. So far, I have done real estate in the last 3 years. Early 30s here
Full-time MBA or EMBA? My company (EY) would pay for EMBA, but require me to stay with the firm for 3y post graduation; MBA would be on me and I have no more than 50k in my savings. The reason I am considering full time MBA is that I am not sure I want to stay in consulting, especially not in EY. Also, I am 30yo with 7y of experience and was recently promoted to a Manager. Any advice?

Lol to the partner saying “no pressure on coming back to the office” but mentions it in every single team meeting, talks about how great it is for the client to see us there and even offers free lunch and drinks 😂 I mean thank you but do you really want to risk your whole team being out sick?
6th year L&E associate here and thinking about transitioning to a position with better WLB. How do you go about getting a government job and are they flexible about WFH, at least a couple of days a week? Recruiters reach out all the time, but always about other firm positions. Tips/ advice much appreciated!
Any PwC Managers have any advice on navigating the culture. I joined recently and already had to pull a director aside regarding how she was talking to me?
What’s the best approach in leaving your current firm to avoid hella backlash? Currently staffed on a large project where SM and client is dependent on me for many things for the implementation. Ramp up time to hire someone new and train would be roughly 4 months. Strong chance they’ll counteroffer but I’m set on leaving. Am I overthinking it?
Transferred to the UK and got a fresh WFH set up budget Thoughts on dual monitor (24”) vs. ultra wide vs. 32” + laptop as second screen?
I have insurance for my primary vehicle and I think Geico covers if I drive other vehicles too. Do you buy insurance when you rent from Turo in this case? Would a card like CSR cover any of it? Turo May not be considered a rental agency from a card standpoint.
Just started a new job & my mental health is not ok. My life turned upside down randomly. I’m moving out in a few months & my parents are getting a divorce out of nowhere. My mom kicked my dad out & I see him occasionally but my mom goes psycho if my bro or I have contact with him. On top of that my mom is taking all of my dads money and has been TOXIC. I have been wfh and it’s a lot to deal with. I hide it well but have been coping with cbd & alcohol (cont in comments )
